The LcdDisplay component in the Microsoft.SPOT.Emulator.Lcd namespace is responsible for emulating an LCD display. With this component, you can configure the resolution (Width and Height) and color depth (BitsPerPixel), as demonstrated in Listing 13-40. This event handler of the OnDeviceEventHandler type can be implemented as follows: public void OnDevicePaintEventHandler(object sender, OnDevicePaintEventArgs args) { ... } The args parameter provides the contents of the display in form of a Bitmap object and the last updated rectangular area on the display. The method is called in the context of the emulator thread, and therefore, you need to synchronize it with the GUI thread when drawing to the emulator user interface. With the .NET Micro Framework SDK, in the SampleEmulator project, a class named Lcd is provided, and it inherits from Control. You can place this control on the form of your emulator user interface. This control automatically manages updating and drawing the display content on your emulator surface (see Figure 13-3).
