This form comprises three tabs, and you should by now have no problems understanding them. The first, Company Accounts, lists the accounts available on the system. The second, Domains, provides a list of the domains associated with the selected company and the remaining domains available. The third and last, Virtual Company Accounts, provides a list of the virtual companies associated with the selected real company account and a list of those available. Go to the Domains tab and make sure that the DAT account is associated with the Admin domain, and then go to the Virtual Company Accounts tab and make sure the DAT company is associated with the VCO virtual company. The buttons on the form do the following: Tables: Prints a report of all the tables associated with the selected company. This does not refer to the tables in the collections associated with the account s virtual company accounts. Duplicate: Creates a new company account that is a copy of the currently selected one. Restore: Restores company accounts from a backup database. This requires that you have previously created a backup using the tools available for the database system that you are using. Select: Makes the selected company the current active company and takes you automatically to the corresponding context. This can also be done by using the Tools Select Company Accounts menu option from the menu bar.

We could have had you start with creating your users, and then associating them with the user groups that you will create now, but we personally like creating the user groups first and then selecting the groups that our users belong to when we create the users, which is why we re walking you through tackling user groups first.

CHAPTER 5 ADMINISTRATION
Note When you learn about development in 18, you will also learn how you can make fields
longer if you need to.
Remember that in a production installation you need to define your user groups before you can associate users to them and thereby provide access to the system based on the group s permissions. Ideally, before you start creating user groups, you should have identified who in the organization needs access to what modules, functionality, forms, fields, etc., and group users accordingly; in the real world, this is of course an ongoing task. You would then define descriptive names for the groups in question and create those groups (for example, Finance, Management, Purchasing, etc.). The second tab on the User Groups form, Users, is shown in Figure 5-10. It contains the panes Selected Users, which displays all the users associated with the group, and Remaining Users, which are those not associated with the group.
