In Axapta, forecast plans are used to enable the Master Scheduling function to use the forecast lines we spoke about earlier. You may find it helpful to create a variety of forecast plans so that you can run different what-if scenarios. Here we ll explain the settings on the Master Plans form. With this knowledge you will understand the fields on the Forecast Plans form. Forecast and master plans can be found at Master Planning Setup Plans Forecast Plans and Master Planning Setup Plans Master Plans, respectively. The Master Plans form, depicted in Figure 11-8, is where you create your different plans or scenarios to which you will run your planning calculations. As with the forecast plans, you will find it helpful to create a number of different master plans so that you can run what-if scenarios. In addition, you will want to have more then one master plan if you will be using the two-plan (static, dynamic) strategy, which is discussed further in the Processes section.

Option
General Include Forecast Plan General Include CRM Quotations and Probability % General Scheduling Method
Description
Select this option if you want your calculation to consider your forecast plan, specified in the Forecast Plan field. Select the Include CRM Quotations option if you want your calculation to consider CRM quotations at or above the specified probability percentage. Select which method you would like to have planned production orders scheduled (via operations or job scheduling). Scheduling methods were described in 10. Select this option if you want your scheduling calculation to schedule via finite capacity using the times and calendars specified. Select this option if you want your scheduling calculation to schedule via work centers with appropriate Property only. This option is used only in job scheduling and is not covered in this book. If you selected Include Forecast Plan, use this field to select the forecast plan to be included in the requirements calculation. Reduce the forecast plan by either nothing (none), any open orders (open orders), or percent (reduce or increase the forecast by a reduction key by selecting Master Planning Setup Coverage Reduction Keys). This tab allows you to override any of the Item Coverage settings that are being used for this calculation. If you enable any of the boxes on this form, the time you specify (in days) will be used instead of the time specified on the Items Coverage Group record. The Futures Messages functionality is described briefly in the Coverage Groups section of this chapter. The Action Messages functionality is described briefly in the Coverage Groups section of this chapter. This tab allows you to add days to the safety margins already set up on your Coverage Group records.

Processes
Now that we have gone through some of the most basic setups, we will describe the various processes that you can run in the Master Planning module. Keep in mind that there are many options available and that small changes to each option could yield big differences in the results of your calculations.
