By now you should know that no matter which modules you have purchased, the Parameters form is always the most important of the setup forms. In CRM, the Parameters form is located at CRM Setup CRM Parameters CRM Parameters. You will also notice an Employee Option form in this folder. The form lets you link your user IDs to your employee names. This is the same linking that was discussed in 6. In addition, the Employee Option form can be used to specify each employee s Outlook synchronization setup. The setup of Outlook synchronization can vary depending on your organization s Active Directory and Exchange setup. This topic is not discussed in this chapter. All business relations must have a relation type. Business relations can be automatically generated from either the customer or vendor table. You should create one record for the table source of each customer table and vendor table. All other relation types should be linked to the table source, relation table. Example relation types include Prospective Customer or Competitor. This form lists all of the options available for a Business Relation status. Example Status entries include In Negotiation or Inactive. This form is another display of the Customer Groups form (Accounts Receivable Setup Customer Groups). This form is another display of the Vendor Groups form (Accounts Payable Setup Vendor Groups). Enter your sales divisions on this form so that they may be used to classify business relations. Enter your market segments on this form so that they may be used to classify business relations. Enter any subsegments as children of the segments data. Subsegments of Retail might be Mail Order, Big Box, Small, etc. Create any of your staff s internal responsibilities pertaining to a business relation. Enter the different business sectors or classifications you might have for your business relations. This could be used to classify your business relations by SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) code. Use this form to list the parent names of any chain stores or organizations. These names can be used to classify business relations belonging to these chains. Status Customer Groups Vendor Groups Sales Districts Segments Subsegments Responsibilities Business Sectors Company Chains
Once data is set up you can begin to enter your business relations by opening the appropriate form, shown in Figure 12-3 (CRM Business Relations). By default, when you open the form the data displayed will be filtered by the business relations where the Main Contact listed is the logged-in employee. Clicking the Show All check box on the top left will display all business relations. It is possible to further filter the displayed information by using the Employee, Type, and Name filter fields at the top of this form. These filters can be very helpful for businesses that might have many thousands of business relations. You will see similar filtering on most forms within the CRM modules. Note If you try to open the Business Relations form and you receive an error saying No employee is mapped to the current user, this means either that you did not follow our instructions in the Employee section of 6, or that you don t have the Human Resources module. If the former applies to you, open the Employee form (Basic Employee) and go back to 6.
