relies on input of a Valid From date, and possible category, employee, and project information. The difference here is the Currency field (which is of high importance in Axapta s search as to which line to use when calculating sales price). The amount in the Pricing field will vary depending on the sales price model being used. These models are described in Table 13-1. Table 13-1. Sales Price Models Used in Calculating Project Sales Prices

This model simply uses the price specified in Pricing and multiplies it by the quantity of the sales unit. In this model the value entered in the Pricing field is the size of the contribution ratio as a percentage of the sales price. In this model the sales price is generated by multiplying the cost price per sales unit by the value or percentage entered in the Pricing field. In this model the sales price is generated by adding the cost price per sales unit to the value entered in the Pricing field.

The remaining two forms for pricing, Sales Price Costs and Sales Price Revenue, can be set up easily with your knowledge of the setup of the Sales Price Hour form. The values entered in the costs and revenue forms are used for the calculations of when costs or revenues are registered in their respective journals, as discussed later in this chapter.

All Project transactions must specify a line property, which can dictate how each line s cost price and sales price are calculated. Of course, the calculation of sales prices is necessary only for Time & Material project types. The Line Property form can be accessed from Project Setup Line Property Line Property, and is shown in Figure 13-3. On this form you have the ability to dictate if and when an additional percentage should be added to the cost or sales price of the line, plus whether the line should be chargeable or invoiced to the customer, and whether the sales value should be accrued (the last two apply to Time & Material projects only).

The Line Property Setup button opens the Line Property Setup form, which dictates when and where the particular line properties will be applied.
Journals
The Project modules rely on the use of journals to input transactions into projects. Journals and the setup of journal names were discussed in 7. There are five journal types available under the Journals folder, Project Journals (see Table 13-2). Table 13-2. The Five Journal Types Available in the Projects Journals Folder
Journal
Hours
Description
The hours journal is used to register the time consumption on a particular project. You can set up an approval process for hours journals by using the Journal Approval form (Project Setup Journals Journal Approval). This is simply a GL general journal. Project costs can be entered from this journal or from General Ledger Journals General Journal. The journal names for cost journals are set up via the General Ledger module. This journal is used to record revenue for a project. This journal is an inventory-management journal and thus the journal names are set up in the Inventory Management module. This is similar to simply using a sales order to record project item consumption. The web journal will record hours via the Enterprise Portal and place them in this journal to be transferred to another journal as specified in the Project Parameters form, Project Setup Parameters. You cannot actually post anything from a web journal. This should be considered a prejournal.
