CHAPTER 12: E-mail Like a Pro
Option #1: E-mailing from the Messages Icon (Hotkey: M)
This first option is perhaps easiest for learning how to initially send an e-mail message. Select your Messages icon on the Home screen and click. (Or press the M Home screen hotkey.)
A fast way to start writing a new e-mail message is to click a date row separator and click the trackpad to select Compose E-mail. (Shortcut: from the same Date Row separator line, just press the Enter key.) You may also press the Menu key and scroll down to Compose E-mail and click. Type the recipient s e-mail address in the To field. If your BlackBerry finds a match between what you are typing and any Address Book entries, those are shown in a selectable drop-down list. Then you may select the correct name by clicking it.
Repeat this to add additional To and Cc addressees. If you need to add a blind carbon copy (Bcc), then press the Menu key and select Add Bcc (Figure 12-1).
CHAPTER 12: E-mail Like a Pro
Figure 12-1. Adding a Bcc in an e-mail message
Then type the subject and body of your e-mail message. When you are done, press the trackpad and click Send. That s all there is to it. TWO-LETTER NICKNAMES FOR POPULAR CONTACTS Martin has set up the nickname pp as part of his own contact entry (Nickname field). This allows him to almost instantly call up his name whenever he wants to find his contact entry (e.g., to look up the company s DUNS number or tax ID in his contact notes) or add himself as a quick carbon copy on an e-mail message, or even when he wants to quickly send a note or reminder to himself as an e-mail message. How do you get this done Step 1: Simply edit any contact and add a 2-letter nickname to the Nickname field.
Step 2: Whenever you type the two letters (e.g., pp ) in the ToE-mail field, this person instantly appears.
This also works in the phone and when addressing SMS/MMS messages.
CHAPTER 12: E-mail Like a Pro
If you have several e-mail addresses integrated with your BlackBerry, you can select which one to send your e-mail message from using the Sent From or Send Using field. 1. 2. Just glide and click the field next to Send Using at the top of the E-mail Composition screen. Click the trackpad and select which e-mail account to use.
Sending E-mail Messages from Your Contacts App
After you have entered or synced your names and addresses to your BlackBerry, you may send e-mail messages directly from your contacts. (See page 67 for help on sync setup for Windows PC users, or page 125 for Apple Mac users.) 1. Navigate to your Contacts icon (address book) and click the trackpad.
