In some e-mail messages, you may see blank spaces where images should be. If you see this, then press the Menu key and select Get Image to retrieve just one image, or Get Images to retrieve them all. You may see a warning message about exposing your e-mail address; you need to click OK or Yes in order to get the image.
Attaching a File to an E-mail Message
The BlackBerry is a powerful business tool. As such, there are times that you might need to attach a file (much like you would do on your computer) to the e-mail message you send from the BlackBerry. NOTE: Depending on the version of your BlackBerry software, this Attach File menu option may not be available for you.
CHAPTER 12: E-mail Like a Pro
1. 2. 3.
Start composing an e-mail message and press the Menu key. Select Attach File from the menu. Next, you need to locate the directory in which the file is stored. Your two initial options are Device Memory or Media Card.

Use the trackpad to navigate to the folder where the file is stored. Once you find the file, simply click it and it will appear in the body of the e-mail message (Figure 12-3).
TIP: You can add several files to your e-mail message simply repeat the procedure.
Setting the Importance of the E-mail Message
Sometimes, you want your e-mail message to be noticed and responded to immediately. The BlackBerry lets you set that importance so that point, your recipient can better respond. High = Exclamation Normal = Nothing, Low = Arrow pointing down. It s easy to set the importance of a new e-mail message as you are writing it.
CHAPTER 12: E-mail Like a Pro
Press the Menu key and select Options. (Shortcut: pressing the letter key that matches the first letter of the menu item (e.g., the O key) a couple of times will jump you down to that item.) In the Options screen, you will see the Importance field. Select from Normal and you will see the options High or Low. Press the Menu key and save.
2. 3. 4.
Verifying Delivery of E-mail Messages
On some, but not all e-mail messages you send, you will see a little D inside the checkmark. These are messages that have been confirmed delivered to the recipient. It does not mean they have opened the message just that it was successfully delivered to their inbox. Notice the D next to the two check marks in Figure 12-4.

Spell Checking Your E-mail Messages
Please see page 22 to learn how to enable spell checking on e-mail messages you type and send. The spelling checker may not be turned on when you take your BlackBerry out of the box the first time.
Working with E-mail Attachments
One of the things that makes your BlackBerry more than just another pretty smartphone is its serious business capabilities. Often, e-mail messages arrive with attachments of important documents, such as Microsoft Word files, Excel spreadsheets, or PowerPoint presentations. Fortunately, the BlackBerry lets you open and view these attachments and other common formats, wherever you might be.
