New in version 5.0 of the BlackBerry operating system is the ability to have your Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry have a single profile to scan or prompt you for a manual login. A Manual Connection Prompt is more secure and your BlackBerry will never just connect to an available network (which could pose a security risk).

Changing/Prioritizing Your Wi-Fi Connection
One of the nice things about Wi-Fi is that you can connect to a wireless network just about anywhere. While you may have saved your home and work networks in the previous section, there may be times you want to prioritize or change networks altogether.
Prioritizing Your Networks
Let s say that 90% of the time, the wireless network you connect to is your home network. You want to make sure that your home network is at the top of the list of networks your BlackBerry searches for. To Prioritize your Networks just do the following: 1. 2. 3. Follow the steps shown previously to get into your Wi-Fi settings. Scroll down to Saved Wi-Fi Profiles at the bottom of the screen and highlight the top network. Press the Menu key and then select Move.
CHAPTER 25: Connect With Wi-Fi
The blue highlighted network then becomes grey. Just scroll with the trackpad and Move the network into the priority you desire.
Using Wi-Fi Diagnostics
There may be times when your Wi-Fi Connection doesn t seem to work for you. Thankfully, your BlackBerry has a very powerful diagnostics program built-in to help you in those instances. To launch the Wi-Fi Diagnostics, just follow steps 1 and 2 from the previous section. Press the Menu button and scroll to and click Wi-Fi tools. Then, select Wi-Fi Diagnostics.
The available wireless networks and detailed connection information will now be displayed. If you are an advanced user with experience in wireless networking, click on the trackpad for access point details. After the diagnosis, you can press the Menu key and select E-mail Report, copy the details into an e-mail, and send it to your Help Desk for assistance.

BlackBerry App World
You can find software applications inside the App World, but since the App World is a relatively new addition to the BlackBerry environment, you will also find many applications outside of App World. Check out our chapter on Adding and Removing Software starting on page 485 for more information.
