The StrokeCollection you saw in the previous section is a collection of Stroke objects. A Stroke object represents a collection of points that corresponds to a stroke; the points are recorded with a single stylus action: stylus-down, stylus-move, or stylus-up. These objects, in turn, have their own set of properties and methods. Stroke Properties The Stroke object exposes these properties:

DrawingAttributes Each stroke can have independent height, width, color, and outline color. These attributes are set using the DrawingAttributes type. To use this type, you create an instance of a DrawingAttributes object, set these properties, and then add the new DrawingAttributes object to the stroke. StylusPoints This property is a StylusPointCollection that contains the collection of StylusPoint objects that make up the stroke. StylusPoint is discussed in the following section.

Stroke Methods The Stroke object exposes the following Ink-specific methods: GetBounds This method returns the bounding box of the Stroke as a Rect structure. HitTest If you pass this method a StylusPointCollection and if any of those points intersect the Stroke, this method returns true; otherwise, it is false.

This collection hosts a set of StylusPoint objects. It s used to store the stylus points for a Stroke, or in some cases, it can be passed to methods such as the HitTest method to determine whether or not strokes intersect. StylusPointCollection Properties The StylusPointCollection object exposes only one property the Count property, which returns a count of the stylus points that are held in this collection. StylusPointCollection Methods The StylusPointCollection object exposes these methods: add Allows you to add a new StylusPoint to the end of the collection.

addStylusPoints Allows you to add an existing StylusPointCollection to the bottom of the collection. clear Removes all StylusPoint objects from the collection. getItem Gets a specific StylusPoint from the collection. Use it with an integer value representing the index of the item you want to reference, such as getItem(5). insert Inserts a new StylusPoint into the collection at the specified index. 187

The StylusPoint Type
The StylusPoint type represents a single point that is collected while the user is executing Ink motions with a specific device a pen, mouse, or touch screen. The point exposes a number of properties and methods for programmability. StylusPoint Properties The StylusPoint exposes the following properties: The Name property allows you to name the point. This is a unique identifier. When points are generated by user input, they are unnamed. The PressureFactor property indicates the pressure that the user puts on the pen or touch screen to generate a stroke. When a mouse is used, the pressure does not change from the default. The value is a double between 0.0 and 1.0, with a default value of 0.5. Based on the pressure factor, you can change the height and width of the Stroke programmatically through its DrawingAttributes property to give feedback to the user.
The coordinates of the stroke are returned using the X and Y properties. These are measured in pixels.
Mouse Event Arguments and Ink
When using Ink, events raised by the input device are treated as mouse events, and arguments received by your event handlers are MouseEventArgs. The MouseEventArgs object contains methods that allow you to query the stylus information to see if it is a mouse, stylus, or some other input device and it contains methods that allow you to query for the collection of StylusPoint objects associated with this event. Note that this is the same MouseEventArgs object that is associated with the MouseEnter, MouseLeave, MouseLeftButtonDown, MouseLeftButtonUp, and MouseMove events. MouseEventArgs Properties The MouseEventArgs object exposes two Boolean properties, called ctrl and shift. These are true when the user holds down the equivalent key while raising the event. MouseEventArgs Methods The MouseEventArgs object exposes three methods:
