Nslookup is a command-line tool that allows you to query and troubleshoot DNS servers. The DNS Events log records errors with the DNS Server service component of the Windows Server 2003 operating system. The DNS Server service maintains a debug log in a file named Dns.log that is stored in the \WINDOWS\System32\Dns\ folder. Replication Monitor is a graphical tool that allows you to monitor and troubleshoot Active Directory replication. You can use Replication Monitor to force Active Directory integrated zone replication and to search the domain for replication errors. System Monitor allows you to monitor real-time performance statistics. The DNS performance object in System Monitor includes 62 counters.
Exam Highlights
Before taking the exam, review the key points and terms that are presented in this chapter.

6-33
Know how to force replication and check for replication errors in Active Directory integrated zones. Know by name the various partitions in which Active Directory integrated zone data can be stored.
Key Terms
replica A copy of an Active Directory partition stored on a domain controller. schema The set of definitions for the universe of objects that can be stored in a directory. For each object class, the schema defines which attributes an instance of the class must have, which additional attributes it can have, and which other object classes can be its parent object class. classSchema An object used to define classes in the schema. A classSchema object provides the template for building directory objects of that class. Examples of classSchema include User and Server. attributeSchema An object used to define attributes in the schema. An attributeSchema object determines the allowable contents and syntax for instances of that attribute in the directory. Examples of attributeSchema include User-PrincipalName and Telex-Number. recursive query A query that asks a DNS server to perform recursion.
