C is correct. Although all these options would mean that only one port needs to be opened on the firewall, only C would allow the users to use Outlook to access all their mailbox contents. A would work only for those users with mailboxes on computers running Exchange 2003 Server. B would not allow full access to all mailbox contents because this is not supported by IMAP4. D would not allow the remote users to use Outlook.

1. How will you configure ISA Server to meet these requirements To meet these requirements, you should perform the following steps: a. Create an SMTP publishing rule to publish the Exchange Server to the Internet. b. Create a Firewall Access rule to allow outbound SMTP traffic from the Exchange Server computer. c. Install the message screener on an internal server running IIS and use SMTPCred.exe to configure a user to authenticate to ISA Server. Enable the message screener and configure it to delete e-mails with executable or VB script attachments. d. Create a Web listener to use OWA forms-based authentication and configure it to block attachments to public machines. Create a new Mail Server publishing rule that publishes the OWA site.

To provide full messaging client functionality, you must enable the use of the Outlook MAPI client. Because your users are running Outlook 2003 and you have deployed Exchange Server 2003, you can enable Outlook access using RPC over HTTPS. Configure your Outlook 2003 clients to use RPC over HTTP by creating a custom profile. Configure the front-end Exchange Server computer as an RPC proxy server and configure the RPC virtual directory to require Basic authentication. Install an SSL certificate on the OWA server. Export the certificate and install it on the ISA Server or configure another SSL certificate on the ISA Server. Create a Secure Web publishing rule for the RPC directory on the Exchange Server computer. Finally, create a rule on the internal firewall to allow RPC traffic from the front-end Exchange Server computer to the back-end Exchange Server computers.

Configuring Virtual Private Networks for Remote Clients and Networks
Why This Matters
You can use Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 to enable Internet user access to internal network resources such as Web servers or Microsoft Exchange servers. To do this, you need only configure the appropriate publishing rule. However, in many cases, organizations must enable a higher level of access to the internal network. In some cases, the remote user may need access to virtually all resources on the internal network, including domain controllers and file servers. These types of resources should never be published using a publishing rule; rather you should enable a virtual private network (VPN) between the client and the internal network so that clients can operate as if they are directly attached to the internal network. In addition to having individual users connecting the internal network, many organizations also need a secure means of connecting to multiple locations. Although many large companies use dedicated wide area network (WAN) connections to link the organization s locations, a much less expensive option in some cases is to create a site-to-site VPN connection between the company locations. You can use ISA Server 2004 to enable both remote client VPN and site-to-site access to the internal network. By integrating the VPN solution with the secure filtering of a firewall, you can provide another option for remote users to connect to your internal network. Lessons in this :
