The VPN quarantine control feature allows you to screen VPN client machines before allowing them access to the organization s network. VPN quarantine control can delay normal remote access to a private network until the remote-access client configuration has been validated by a client-side script. Configuring quarantine control on ISA Server requires a number of configuration steps on the ISA Server computer and on the VPN clients. The quarantine script or program that you create to validate client configuration during remote access can be an executable file (*.exe), a script file (*.vbs) or a simple command file (*.cmd or *.bat). When you create the script, you need to configure it to perform a set of tests to ensure that the remote-access client complies with network security policy. The Connection Manager family of programs is a set of optional components used to create a managed remote-access solution. Connection Manager enables a network administrator to pre-configure remote-access clients including VPN quarantine clients. The Network Quarantine Service (Rqs.exe) provides the listener service for computers running ISA Server to support VPN Quarantine. The easiest way to install the Network Quarantine Service and configure ISA Server to support listener network traffic is to use the Configurerqsforisa.vbs script provided with ISA Server 2004.

If you enable quarantine using RADIUS policy, you can use Internet Authentication Service on Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server to act as the RADIUS server. Use RADIUS for VPN quarantine control if you want to centralize the configuration of quarantine policies for multiple ISA Servers. The final step in configuring quarantine control for VPN clients is to configure the access rules for the Quarantined VPN Clients network to access required resources on other networks. To allow access to a resource, create an access rule with the Quarantined VPN Clients network as the source and the server to which access is required as the destination.

You are the network administrator for your organization. You need to allow VPN access to an application server on your Internal network for remote users. You do not have the option to distribute certificates to all the remote users, and do not want to configure a pre-shared key on each client computer. Your ISA Server computer is configured as an Internet-edge firewall and is not a member of your internal domain. You need to ensure that only authenticated domain users will be able to connect using the VPN connections. Due to limited bandwidth, the maximum number of concurrent VPN connections is 50.

Scenario 1 Question
1. What steps will you take to deploy this solution
Scenario 2

using Outlook Express, and only the Sales group should be able to access selected file servers in the head office. You have deployed ISA Server 2004 at both locations. The branch office administrator will configure their ISA Server computer and you must configure the head-office ISA Server computer.
Scenario 2 Question
1. How will you configure the ISA Server computer at the head office to enable the required functionality
Summary
Virtual private networking allows secure remote access to resources on an organization s internal network for users outside the network. ISA Server 2004 supports two VPN tunneling protocols: Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and ISA Server 2004 supports a variety of VPN authentication protocols. Whenever possible, you should use MS-CHAP v2 or Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP). VPN quarantine control allows you to scan the VPN client computer configuration before allowing them access to the organization s network. ISA Server supports two types of VPN connections: remote-client access VPN connections, and site-tosite VPN connections. ISA Server enables VPN access using a default configuration that you can modify to meet your organization s requirements. When VPN clients connect to the VPN server, they must be assigned an IP address configuration that enables them to access the resources on the internal network or other networks. This IP address configuration can be assigned by ISA Server directly, or you can use a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to assign the addresses. After ISA Server is configured to enable client access, VPN connections need to be configured on the remote-access clients. When you configure a site-to-site VPN, you must configure all the remote site network properties and configure access rules for traffic flow between the networks. In addition, you must configure both sides of a site-to-site VPN connection. ISA Server supports the following three protocols for site-to-site VPN connections: Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP), and Internet Protocol security (IPSec) tunnel mode. A remote-site network will contain the IP addresses for all computers connecting from the remote office. When you configure a site-to-site VPN in ISA Server, a new network is established.
