When clients aren t functioning correctly perhaps they can t connect to the Internet, or perhaps they can t connect to any servers on remote internal networks you need to have some idea of where to start looking to resolve the problem. This particular exam objective looks at the common areas where ISA Server 2004 clients have configuration issues. There are several things you should check, such as name resolution. If a name cannot be correctly resolved to an IP address, the rest of the communication process cannot proceed. To diagnose problems, you must also understand some of the protocols that are used by the client software to communicate with the ISA Server computer. In some cases, the newer client software is not entirely compatible with previous versions of ISA Server, such as ISA Server 2000 or Proxy Server 2.0. You must also understand how clients on your network use ISA Server, as this differs between Firewall Client, Web Proxy, and SecureNAT. When using SecureNAT clients, it is very important to get the routers configured correctly. Implementing SecureNAT is relatively simple on a single TCP/IP subnet that contains an ISA Server. However, things become far more complex when you attempt to implement SecureNAT where the ISA Server 2004 computer is located on a remote TCP/IP subnet.

There are two domain controllers located on the Tailspin Toys network. The first domain controller has the DNS service installed. It hosts the tailspintoys.internal network and is configured as a root server. ISA Server 2004 is installed on a stand-alone Windows Server 2003 computer. The DNS service is installed on the ISA Server 2004 computer and it is configured as a caching-only server. The Root Hints tab of the DNS server on the ISA Server 2004 computer contains 13 entries. The Forwarders tab is configured to forward all queries for the tailspintoys.internal network to the second domain controller. The LDT on the ISA Server computer includes the entry *.tailspin toys.internal. Tailspin Toys uses a single TCP/IP subnet. The IP address of the internal network interface of the ISA Server 2004 computer is 192.168.10.1. The IP address of the first domain controller is 192.168.10.5. The IP address of the second domain controller is 192.168.10.6. Currently clients are able to connect to hosts on the Tailspin Toys network, but are unable to connect to hosts on the Internet. Which of the following changes could you make to resolve this (Choose the correct answer.) A. Configure the clients to use 192.168.10.6 as their preferred DNS server. B. Configure the clients to use 192.168.10.1 as their preferred DNS server. C. Configure the Forwarders tab on DNS service on the first DC to forward all requests for the tailspintoys.internal zone to 192.168.10.1. Configure all clients to use 192.168.10.1 as their preferred DNS server. D. Configure the Forwarders tab on the DNS service on the ISA Server 2004 server and ensure that it forwards all requests for the tailspintoys.internal zone to 192.168.10.5. Configure all clients to use IP address 192.168.10.1 for their preferred DNS server.

You receive a call from a laptop user who spends two days a week at your company s Wagga Wagga site and three days a week at your company s headquarters in Wangaratta. All computers at the Wangaratta site, including the laptop in question, use either Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003. All computers at the Wagga Wagga site, except for that of the employee who travels there from Wangaratta, use Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000 Server. The Wagga Wagga and Wangaratta sites are connected through a VPN. You have recently installed ISA Server 2004 at the Wangaratta site. All computers at the Wangaratta site have the ISA Server 2004 Firewall Client software installed. Currently the Wagga Wagga site uses ISA Server 2000 and the clients there use the version of the client software that came with that product. The user who calls you tells you that he is able to access all network resources and the Internet from the Wangaratta location, but when he travels to Wagga Wagga, he cannot access the Internet. Access to other network resources at Wagga Wagga occurs without problem. So far as the user can recall, the problem arose around the same week that you rolled
