Correct Answers: D A. Incorrect: Active/Passive node clustering requires a shared storage medium and is quite different from NLB. B. Incorrect: Active/Passive node clustering requires a shared storage medium and is quite different from NLB. C. Incorrect: Although this would work, it is far more administratively intensive than using ISA Server 2004, Enterprise Edition, which has NLB configuration built in. D. Correct: ISA Server 2004, Enterprise Edition, has NLB built in for servers that are members of the same array. This makes setting up NLB far less intensive than it would be if you were configuring it on computers running ISA Server 2004, Standard Edition.

Correct Answers: B, C, and E A. Incorrect: Windows 2000 Server does not support NLB and cannot be used as a platform in this case. B. Correct: Windows 2000 Advanced Server does support NLB and can be used as a platform in this scenario. C. Correct: Windows Server 2003 supports NLB and can be used as a platform in this scenario. D. Incorrect: Although Windows Server 2003, Web Edition, supports NLB, you cannot install ISA Server 2004 on this scaled-down Windows Server 2003 platform. E. Correct: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition supports NLB and can be used as a platform in this scenario.

Correct Answers: A, D, and E A. Correct: If computers have separate IP addresses configured in Network Load Balancing Manager, they will be members of separate NLB clusters. B. Incorrect: If computers have separate IP addresses configured in Network Load Balancing Manager, they will be members of separate NLB clusters. Although you can configure multiple cluster IP addresses, these must be shared across the cluster and not be unique to cluster nodes. Cluster IP addresses are separate from the IP addresses assigned to network adapters.

C. Incorrect: DNS round-robin is a way of distributing traffic, but it is not NLB. The cluster FQDN should be mapped to the cluster IP address, not the IP address of the network adapters attached to nodes in the cluster. D. Correct: As you will generally want your hosts to address the cluster using FQDN, you need to ensure that the cluster FQDN maps to the cluster IP address in the relevant DNS zone. E. Correct: This is the first step involved in setting up an NLB cluster. It also ensures that you have a common configuration and system policy throughout the cluster. The administration of a cluster is greatly simplified if ISA Server 2004, Enterprise Edition, is in use, so those organizations that require clustering functionality should strongly consider implementing Enterprise Edition to reduce administrative overhead.

Objective 3.6
Configure ISA Server 2004 to Support a Network Topology
ISA Server 2004 ships with a set of configured network templates that allow administrators to deploy the server quickly and easily. The network templates reflect the most common types of ISA Server configuration. These templates include Edge Firewall, 3-Leg Perimeter, Front Firewall, Back Firewall, and Single Network Adapter. The template that you choose to implement is dependent on the configuration of the network to which you are deploying the ISA Server 2004 computer. Setting up networks in ISA Server 2004 is relatively simple; an administrator merely needs to specify the start and end of the IP address range. If given a network range in CIDR notation, an administrator may need to calculate the range. There are two types of relationships that can be configured between networks on an ISA Server 2004 computer. The first type of relationship, known as a route relationship, is used when hosts on both networks require the ability to communicate directly with each other. The second type of relationship, known as the NAT relationship, is used when the hosts on one network need to contact the hosts on a second network, but the second network hosts need to be restricted from contacting the hosts on the first.
