SSMS lets DBAs create a log shipping configuration interactively in the Database Properties window. You configure the primary database first, setting backup options for the log shipping configuration, and then configure the secondary database and restore options. Through SSMS, you can also script your log shipping configuration to document the configuration, deploy the same configuration for multiple databases, and aid in the recovery plan. Failing over to the secondary database in case of a primary database failure is a manual process that requires you to synchronize the primary and secondary databases, recover the secondary database, and then configure the secondary database as the primary database.
