Access initially shows you the upper left corner of the report. To see the report centered in full-page view in Print Preview, click the Zoom button on the toolbar. To see two pages sideby-side, click the Two Pages button. This gives you a reduced picture of two pages, as shown in Figure 2-19 on the next page, and an overall idea of how Access arranges major areas of data on the report. Unless you have a large monitor, however, you won t be able to read the data. Click the Multiple Pages button to see more than two pages. When you move the mouse pointer over the window in Print Preview, the pointer changes to a magnifying glass icon. To zoom in, place this icon in an area that you want to see more closely and then press the left mouse button. You can also click the Zoom button on the toolbar again to see a close-up view of the report and then use the scroll bars to move around in the magnified report. Use the Zoom box on the toolbar to magnify or shrink your view. Access also provides an OfficeLinks button on the standard Print Preview toolbar to let you output the report to Microsoft Office Word or Microsoft Office Excel. Part 1: Part Title

Data Access Pages
A feature first introduced in Access 2000 is the capability to easily publish your data as Web pages on your company s intranet using data access pages that you design from within Access. Click Pages on the Object bar in the Database window to see the list of data access pages available in the Housing Reservations database, as shown in Figure 2-20. Figure 2-20. A list of data access pages in the Database window.
Part 1: Understanding Microsoft Access
The Many Faces of Microsoft Access As you ll learn in Part 6, Linking Access and the Web, Access 2003 provides many ways to help you make your Access application data available on a Web site. Data access pages are special Web pages (.htm files) that contain an Office ActiveX control that allows your users to display, search, and update the data in your database. As long as your Web users have Microsoft Office installed, they can open your data access pages directly from their client machines. At the upper left corner of the Database window are three toolbar buttons to open the selected page in Page view or Design view or to begin creating a new page. At the top of the list of pages in the Database window, you can also find two special shortcuts for creating a new page and a third shortcut to link an existing page into your database. You can doubleclick any of these shortcuts to begin defining a new page or link an existing one. You can also view the data access page in Page view by double-clicking the data access page name in the window, or you can open the data access page in Design view by holding down the Ctrl key and double-clicking the data access page name. Finally, you can right-click any data access page name and choose Design View from the shortcut menu. The Data Access Page Window in Design View
When you want to change the definition of a data access page, you must open the page in Design view. In the page list for Housing Reservations, hold down the Ctrl key and doubleclick the dapXmplFacilitiesAndRooms page to see the design for the page, as shown in Figure 2-21 on the next page. Don t worry if what you see on your screen doesn t exactly match Figure 2-21. In this figure, I moved a few things around and selected several options so that you can see all the main features of the Page window in Design view. The large window in the background is the page design window where you create the design of the page. This page is designed to display information about facilities and the rooms in each facility, bringing together information from several tables. You can see that the Design view for pages is similar to the Design view for forms and reports. (For comparison, see Figure 2-14 on page 31 and Figure 2-17 on page 35.) While a form s data is edited in Access, you can allow users to edit your page data using Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can group and sort data and make it easy for users to drill down into details about a particular topic as you can on a report. On the dapXmplFacilitiesAndRooms page, users can browse through the information by facility, and then review and edit the details about rooms for the facility they choose. When you first open this page in Design view, the toolbox should appear in the lower left area of the screen. If you don t see the toolbox, choose the Toolbox command from the View menu or click the Toolbox button on the toolbar. You can click the title bar of the toolbox and drag it to another location.
