Firewall rules created by Exchange 2010 setup. To make changes, you could create custom rules based on them and then disable or delete the original rule. A number of Exchange Server services use Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) for communication. Server processes that use RPCs register those endpoints in the Endpoint Mapper database. RPC clients contact the remote RPC Endpoint Mapper to determine the endpoints used by the server process. Exchange 2010 setup creates two firewall rules for a process that require RPCs. One of the rules allows communication with the RPC Endpoint Mapper, and the second rule allows communication with the dynamically assigned endpoint.

Preparing for and Deploying Exchange Server 2010
The following sample script can be used to install Exchange Server 2010 in unattended mode. In this sample, the server being deployed is the first server in a new Exchange organization. To use this sample, create a file called ProvisionServer.ps1 and put the following code into the file. prior to running the script, you must allow scripts to be run by setting the Execution policy in Windows powerShell to a value that allows scripts to be executed and you must be using Exchange 2010 Sp1. By default, this policy is restricted, which doesn t allow any scripts to run.

1. Create the script. 2. Open an elevated Windows powerShell command shell (run as administrator). 3. Enable the Windows powerShell Execution policy to allow running scripts (Set-ExecutionPolicy). 4. run the script.
If you want to perform tasks following setup, you can add code after the Connect-ExchangeServer -auto command has been executed. That will enable you to run a specific configuration to your environment. You are not restricted in what you can do if it is an Exchange powerShell task, it can be run to change settings, or make decisions based on existing settings.
One of the more common portions of the installation that is automated is the basic installation. Earlier in the chapter the command-line options were covered. Because we are using a standard naming convention for different types of servers, we can automate the
