Understanding Pro les
Switching Pro les
You can con gure Outlook 2007 either to use a speci c pro le automatically or to prompt you to select a pro le at startup. If you want to change pro les, you need to exit Outlook 2007 and then restart, selecting the appropriate pro le. Follow these steps to specify the default pro le and use it automatically when Outlook 2007 starts: 1. On the Start menu, right-click the Microsoft Of ce Outlook icon, and then choose Properties. Alternatively, open Control Panel, and then double-click the Mail icon. 2. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Pro les. 3. In the Mail dialog box, on the General tab, select Always Use This Pro le, as shown in Figure 3-5. In the drop-down list, select the default pro le that you want Outlook 2007 to use. Figure 3-5. You can specify a default pro le on the General tab.
4. Click OK.
Specifying the Startup Pro le
If you work with multiple pro les and switch pro les relatively often, you ll probably want to con gure Outlook 2007 to prompt you to choose a pro le at startup. This saves you the trouble of changing the default pro le each time you want to switch. For example, assume that you use one pro le for your personal accounts and another for your work accounts. Have Outlook 2007 prompt you for the pro le when the program starts, rather than con guring the settings each time to specify the default pro le.
