Note: A site collection is a group of SharePoint sites that share a common Web Part gallery, a common list template gallery, a common template gallery, and a set of cross-site groups. The collection includes all sites within the folder tree of a designated Top Level site. Creating a Top Level site requires special administrative permission.
The Top-Level Site Administration page shown in Figure 1-23 provides a means to change permissions, select regional settings, view usage statistics, and manage sites. Manage Users
Lists the users in the current Web site and provides options to add new users, remove users from all site groups, or assign users to site groups. Lists the site groups for the current site and provides options to create new site groups, delete site groups, or change a site group s description and rights. Displays a page where you can grant or deny access to visitors with no logon credentials. You can also grant or deny access to all authenticated users on your network. (An administrator must enable this feature at the server level before you can use it on individual sites.)

Displays a page where you can configure a site to display a request form whenever a user attempts to create a page, add an item to a list, or perform some other operation for which they lack permission. By filling in the form and clicking Send Request, the user sends a Request For Access message via e-mail to a designated administrator. The Management and Statistics section has options to view site usage statistics, to manage sites and workspaces, to review discussions and alerts for the current site, and to delete the current site.
