4 On the Specify Site And List Information wizard page, fill in these fields: Site Specify the URL of the SharePoint site where you want the list or view to reside. If the URL doesn t appear in the drop-down list, type it in. List Name Review the proposed name for the new SharePoint list, and correct it if necessary. This name must not already exist in the SharePoint site you selected. The default name is the Access table name. Description Review the proposed description and correct it if necessary. By default, this will be the Access table description. Open The List When Finished By default, this check box will be selected. When the export process completes, the new list will therefore appear in your browser. To bypass this display, clear the check box. 5 Click Finish to create the SharePoint list.

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Inside Out Figure 4-23. The first two Access commands appear in the bottom right corner. In fact, three commands are available:
Export To Access

Create Linked Table In Access Report With Access

Part II: End-User Features and Experience
Copies the current view into Access (the same as Export To Access) and then creates an Access report that displays the data.
In each case, the Web page command provides less flexibility and control than the corresponding commands in Access. However, if the Web page commands meet your needs and seem more convenient, don t hesitate to use them.
Using SharePoint with InfoPath
The Microsoft Office System 2003 includes a new program called InfoPath, designed primarily for information gathering. Basically, InfoPath is a Windows desktop program that displays fill-in forms, captures form input, and saves the resulting data. Figure 4-31 shows InfoPath displaying a typical form.

Figure 4-31. Microsoft InfoPath displays attractive forms like this and saves the submitted data as XML.

Unlike more traditional forms programs, InfoPath uses XML for both the form templates and the saved form data. It also supports many kinds of network and database connectivity.
Part II: End-User Features and Experience
Using SharePoint with the Microsoft Office System Windows SharePoint Services supports InfoPath with a special type of document library called, logically enough, a form library. Figure 4-32 shows a simple form library named Asset Forms. This library collects submissions from the Asset Tracking form shown in the previous figure.
F04WSS32.BMP
The default document template for a form library is an InfoPath template. When a team member displays the library and clicks the Fill Out This Form button, the SharePoint site downloads the template and the team member s PC starts InfoPath. When the team member saves the form, the default location is the form library. Each record in the form library represents a different XML file a different form submission. Knowing the format of the submitted XML files (which it gleans from the form template), the form library can extract the content of submitted form fields and display it as list columns. From there, you can display the list data in additional SharePoint views, export or link it to Excel or Access, or process it as raw XML. You can create a new form library through the SharePoint browser interface or directly in InfoPath. To create a new form library using a browser, proceed as follows.
