8. The Wizards Action page (not shown) gives you the option of configuring distribution, saving a script to configure distribution with SQL statements, or both. If you want to document the distribution configuration, you can save the script, which can be used again, or modified for slightly different configurations. Click Next to proceed. 9. Finally, you will see the Complete The Wizard page, shown in Figure 20-6. This page allows you to indicate whether to continue or cancel the configuration. 3. The first page of the New Publication Wizard welcomes you to the wizard (not shown). Click Next to proceed. 4. The Publication Databases page allows you to pick the database from which the publication will be selected. In this example, there are six databases: Production, Test, DBADB (every DBA should have a database for storing performance information, testing SQL, and so on), profile (where I store profiler traces) and, of course, AdventureWorks and AdventureWorksDW. Select the database that will be the source of the publication. A publication can originate in only one database, although it can consist of one or more objects in that database. In this example, AdventureWorks has been selected. This is shown in Figure 20-8. Click Next to continue.

Replication
5. Once you select the source database, you are prompted to select the replication type. The following are the choices for the publication type:
Snapshot publication Transactional publication Transactional publication with updatable subscriptions Merge publication
These publication types were all described earlier in this chapter. Choose the desired type of publication. For this example, transactional has been chosen, as shown in Figure 20-9. Click Next to continue.
Figure 20-9 The Publication Type page.
6. After you select the type of publication, the Articles page appears. This page allows you to select the objects, such as tables, stored procedures, views, and so on, that will be part of this publication. As you see in this walkthrough, I have created a table in the AdventureWorks database that is not eligible for replication. This is because transactional replication requires a primary key on each article table. By clicking on this table, text is shown that explains that this table is not a candidate for replication because it does not have a primary key defined, as shown in Figure 20-10. The other tables in this database have been selected to be included in this article, as shown in Figure 20-10. Click Next to continue. Note
The AdventureWorks database does not have a table that is lacking a primary key. I added this table specifically for this example. Some of the AdventureWorks tables do not work with replication. For this example I have chosen only a few tables so that the example works.
