Description of the Task Close the query and execute a check in the Query Designer to confirm the configuration is consistent Document this result Steps If Migration Fails (the Query Save Generates Error Messages) Review errors and execute an attempt to self-correct the error by using the context menu on the error message If Step 1 works and the error is identified and corrected, check that the query is consistent and executes correctly If the error persists, open a help desk ticket to fix the issue and cc the responsible person for this query to update them on the activities or whoever is identified as the responsible person in the migration process If the error is fixed, go to Step 5 in the preceding list and continue through the migration process

Description of the Task (Migrate the WAD Library) Migration of the WAD Library to the Web Reusable Item folder is required prior to migration of the WAD templates, so execute ABAP program RSZW_ITEM_MIGRATION_3X_TO_70 to accomplish this step of the migration This is a backend program to execute; therefore, a specific person will execute this and confirm that the library items have been migrated consistently This program should be run in simulation mode first and confirmation that all library items migrate correctly and can be accomplished first Execute the actual migration of the Web library items Once this is completed, send an e-mail or other form of communication to everyone involved in the migration process to inform them that migrating WAD templates is now possible and they can start the process Validate that a 70 folder has been created for each library item Document this activity in the Migration Document in the WAD worksheet or the documentation approach that you have identified Description of the Task (Migrate the WAD Templates) Confirm that the BI portal for the system is available This is required for the support of the 70 WAD templates by the Java stack Identify if there are any Web items that are not supported in the 70 version; that is, Role Menu, AD Hoc Item, Alert Monitor, Hierarchical Item Document this in the Migration Document There are some objects that can be migrated to 70 from 3x that are not standard, such as the Role Menu This is not a best business practice but is available if required As always, before you make the decision, answer the question, Why should I continue to use a 3x version object and can I work with a standard object to accomplish the same results

Applied SAP BI 70 Web Reports
Description of the Task (Migrate the WAD Templates) Identify if there are any customized objects in the WAD templates such as custom Java, table lookups, and so forth Document this in the Migration Document Access the 70 Web Application Designer Migrating the WAD templates is different from migrating both the workbooks and queries This is not an executable where you open the template and save Instead, this is an executable process Once in the 70 WAD, go to Tools | Migration Tools The actual process is described earlier in the chapter, in the section WAD Templates The dialog box for the migration process appears SAP BW 3x to SAP NetWeaver Migration Tool In Step 1 of the migration wizard, click the Select Web Template button to access the 3x WAD templates In the Open dialog box, find the WAD template that will be migrated and open it Once the WAD template is identified by the migration wizard, you can, if necessary, click Change in Step 1 to change the template Click the Start Conversion button This is the conversion settings check box in the migration wizard The migration wizard will build the XML-formatted version of the WAD template and execute it in Step 3 Confirm in Step 4 that a successful migration has occurred by clicking Close and Edit to close the template After the successful migration, execute the WAD template and navigate through a series of executables This should be no less than three different navigational steps to confirm the functionality of the WAD template is working (for example, change the values of the variables, use the context menu of either the characteristics or key figures to navigate, drag and drop a characteristic into the report, execute Export to Excel and confirm the results) Document in the Migration Document the testing process that you experienced Close the WAD template and execute a check in the Query Designer to confirm the configuration is consistent Document this result Steps If Migration Fails (WAD Template Does Not Convert Successfully and Error Message Is Generated)

Confirm the type of error message (such as Web item not consistent with 70 version, etc) Identify if the error is Java stack related and if it can be corrected immediately or if the error message needs basis support If additional support is required, enter a help desk message via e-mail and cc the responsible person for this task or if the process is to open a help desk message, then initiate the process If the error can be corrected, re-execute the conversion program to see whether the migration is successful
