As you make changes to the universe and extend your implementation, it is important that either the designer or the power users develop standard reports that can be used to benchmark performance Clearly, the universe is only one component that affects performance However, if BusinessObjects XI is the interface that users see, it will get blamed entirely for performance issues When a universe or report is poorly designed, or the Enterprise server overloaded, such blame may be appropriate However, if the database is improperly tuned, users will still lament, BusinessObjects is slow There are two purposes to designating benchmark reports The first and simplest is to ensure that when you change your universe or server settings, you do not negatively affect
