string UserResponse(string data_provider_name (optional); string prompt_name)
Example: UserResponse("Enter Country: ") returns "US" when a user enters "US" into a prompt named "Enter Country: "
PART III
Miscellaneous Functions
ColumnNumber
The ColumnNumber function returns the number of a column in a table starting with 0 as the leftmost column and incrementing to the right
integer ColumnNumber()
NOTE The ColumnNumber function does not work in the first column of a table The value that is
displayed is blank
CurrentUser
The CurrentUser function will return the name of the user who is currently logged in to InfoView and working with the Web Intelligence document
string CurrentUser()
Example: CurrentUser() returns "Cindi" when Cindi is logged in to Web Intelligence
GetContentLocale
The GetContentLocale function will return the locale settings for the current document
string GetContentLocale()
Examples: GetContentLocale() returns "en_US" if the document content is English US GetContentLocale() returns "fr_FR" if the document content is French
Part III:
Reporting and Analysis
NOTE There are two locale settings available: the user session locale and the document locale The
locale is important for how dates and currencies are formatted
GetLocale
The GetLocale function will return the user session locale settings This is a system setting in InfoView
string GetLocale()
Examples: GetLocale() returns "en_US" if the locale setting is English US GetLocale() returns "fr_FR" if the locale setting is French
NOTE There are two locale settings available: the user session locale and the document locale The
locale is important for how dates and currencies are formatted
The If function will evaluate a boolean_expression; if the boolean_expression is true, it will return the anytype value_if_true, or if the boolean_expression is false, it will return the anytype value_if_false
any_datatype If(boolean_expression; anytype value_if_true; anytype value_if_false)
Examples: If([Country]="US";[Resort];"") returns the value in [Resort] when [Country]= "US" and "" when [Country]<> "US" If([Year]=2006; [Revenue]; 0) returns the value in [Revenue] if the [Year]=2006

most commonly used in the header or footer of a report
Part III:
Reporting and Analysis
Pages
The Pages function returns the current page number in the report
integer Pages()
Example: Pages() returns 3 if the current page is 3 (of 57 pages, for example)
NOTE This function can be found in Templates | Free-Standing Cells | Page Number Cells and is
most commonly used in the header or footer of a report
Previous
The Previous function will return the value of the object in the previous row of the table
any_type Previous(any_datatype [object];(reset_dimension_variables))
The reset_dimension_variables is an optional input parameter that allows you to reset the previous function to null Example:
=Previous([Revenue])
NOTE This function can be used to calculate year-to-year variances in a format different than a
crosstab
=Previous([Revenue])
=If(Not(IsNull(Previous([Revenue])));[Revenue]-Previous([Revenue]))
RowIndex
The RowIndex function returns the number of a row in a table starting with 0 as the first row and incrementing on each subsequent data row
integer RowIndex()
NOTE The RowIndex function is different than the LineNumber function in that it only counts the
rows of data and does not include the headers and footers for the table You will receive a #MULTIV ALUE error if you place this function in a header or footer
UniqueNameOf
The UniqueNameOf function returns the display name of the report_variable provided If there are multiple queries on the report containing the same report_variable, the UniqueNameOf
22:
F o r m u l a s a n d Va r i a b l e s
function will return the display name of the report_variable along with the query name that returned the report_variable
