Concatenation
In some circumstances you will want to combine two strings together into a single string variable by using concatenation This can be useful for formatting, for example, when you need a first name and a last name variable combined into a single name field for a form letter This can also be necessary to combine multiple fields to create a single unique field for the purpose of counting distinct values Concatenation only works on string variables or string literals If you need to include numeric values, date values, or other data types in the concatenation function, they will need to be converted to string types prior to concatenation The following example displays a label "Total Revenue " concatenated with the sum of the revenue
