As mentioned in the introduction to this chapter, all the configuration and management aspects of SDM are not covered here: this is a course in-and-of itself called SND, which discusses the use of the product over a four-day period Instead, this chapter briefly introduces some of the basic configuration tasks you ll perform in SDM and then discusses some of the wizards SDM offers
Generating EAN13 In Objective-C
Using Barcode generator for iPhone Control to generate, create GTIN - 13 image in iPhone applications.
Create Bar Code In Objective-C

To access the configuration screens, click the Configure button at the top of the SDM window This will take you to the screen in Figure 18-3 On the left side of the screen are buttons you can click to navigate to the different configuration sections:

You can set up interface trunking, configure properties for an interface, and display the status and configuration of the interfaces You can create your firewall policies for two or more interface routers, edit access control lists (ACLs are discussed in 22), change your firewall policies, and view the ACL and firewall policies You can create, edit, and view IPSec site-to-site, IPSec remote access, and SSL VPNs, which Cisco refers to as WebVPN (VPNs are discussed in 25) You can perform a security audit of the router, which has the IOS make recommendations of security features that should be enabled or IOS features that should be disabled You can configure your static and dynamic routing protocols (routing configuration is discussed in s 19, 20, and 21) You can configure static and dynamic address translation policies (address translation is discussed in 23) You can configure your intrusion prevention system (IPS) policies to look for network and host attacks

Quality of Service NAC
You can define a quality of service (QoS) policy to prioritize your traffic as it goes through the router You can define a network access control (NAC) server to perform posture validation before allowing a user access through the router You can perform all other management tasks by clicking this button, such as setting up a DHCP server, defining local user accounts, restricting access to the VTYs, setting up SSH, and many other management functions
Additional Tasks
One handy feature of SDM is that once you have completed a configuration task within the GUI and before you deploy it down to the router, you can see the actual commands SDM will configure on the router By default, this feature is turned offTo turn it on, choose Edit > Preferences and select the checkbox labeled Preview Commands Before Delivering To RouterThen, when you apply changes to the router, a window will pop up with the actual IOS commands that will be executed on the router Click the Deliver button to complete the delivery process of the commands to the router

SDM Wizards
At the top of most configuration screens you ll typically find two tabs: Create and Edit The Create tab allows you to use a wizard to configure the specified feature Cisco uses wizards to minimize misconfigurations when you are initially setting up the router and certain features on it Wizards are basically used once, when setting up a particular feature Once you have completed the configuration task with a wizard, any changes you need to make, as well as viewing the current configuration of the feature, are done from the Edit tab
SDM uses wizards to minimize any miscon guration of common administrative and security con gurations,
including rewall, VPN, address translation, and IPS functions
When using a wizard, SDM will lead you through a series of screens that will ask you questions about how you want to configure a particular feature Based on your answers, SDM will create the necessary commands to implement the feature At the end of the wizard, the commands are delivered directly to the router and activated in the router s running-config Cisco recommends you run the wizards in this order initially: 1 Interfaces and Connections (previously these were two separate buttons, called LAN and WAN, in older SDM versions) 2 Firewall and ACL 3 VPN 4 NAT 5 IPS 6 Security Audit The Security Audit wizard actually doesn t perform any configurations; instead, it examines the current configuration on your router and compares it to best configuration practices by Cisco s Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and the International Computer Security Association (ICSA) If the wizard sees that you are not following these recommended practices, it can fix these issues for you In certain cases, you ll have to provide the Security Audit wizard with additional information
