If you are using the Pre-cache application at login option (the default option), the user is notified when the download begins and ends Once it is complete, the user may disconnect from the network and continue to use the application offline until the lease expires or is renewed If Cache application at launch time is chosen, the user launches the application and must remain connected until the application completes before they can disconnect During the downloading time, the user may begin to run and use the application while the download occurs The main parts of the applications are streamed first, and then the not so popular pieces follow, such as help, mail merge, and references This allows the users to begin working in the application right away while the downloading continues The best option for working with offline access to applications is to predeploy them In the Program Files | Citrix directory is a utility called RadeDeployexe that pushes new or updated applications to workstations overnight to help minimize network overload during business hours This is perfect for delivering applications that are used more frequently in the organization Follow these steps to run RadeDeploy: 1 On the client desktop that has the Streaming Client installed, open a command prompt Enter the command line with the UNC path to locate the manifest file (profile) on the network file share using the following example:

Citrix XenApp with Application Streaming
The Streaming Clients
There are two ways to get applications streamed to the desktops using the Streaming Client: with the Program Neighborhood Agent (PN Agent) or with the Web Interface (WI) in a web browser With Program Neighborhood Agent and the Streaming Client, you can enable application icons in the Start menu or on the desktop and you can enable offline applications This method allows the full streaming feature set to be used You configure a PN Agent site on a Web Interface server and set up access just like a normal site Published resources are enumerated on the client in the Start menu Also, it allows users to configure options on their desktops for the agent interaction, and PN Agent runs in the background keeping tabs on the applications and configurations Because the PN Agent site is centrally managed, administrators are able to dynamically control the client population from a single location and in real time This method is supported over HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443) for ease of communications through firewalls Users can access streamed applications through the Web Interface using the locally installed Streaming Client Offline applications cannot be used with this method Users will connect to a Web Interface site and click an available application Then the streamed application will launch off the local client using the Streaming Client installed on the client machine
