The clear banner Command
This command clears the message of the day (MOTD) banner on the switch The syntax for this command is clear banner motd An example follows:

The clear boot Command
The clear boot command clears the bootup configuration of the router (which is set with the set boot command, discussed in the section "The set boot Command," later in this chapter) This includes the ability to clear the specified boot image and NVRAM settings The command comes in three different forms: clear boot auto-config, clear boot system all, and clear boot system flash The clear boot auto-config Command The clear boot auto-config command clears the config-file variable in the router, removing any configuration file listings for the startup configuration of the switch This causes the switch to use the default configuration file, if it exists, or default settings if it does not exist The syntax for the command is clear boot auto-config [module] The module modifier is used to specify the supervisor engine to clear (either the primary in slot 1 or the redundant in slot 2 for a Catalyst 5500) The clear boot system all Command The clear boot system all command clears the entire boot environment variable, including config file settings and CatOS image load settings This causes the switch to revert to using the first available flash image and the default config file If a boot image cannot be located, the switch boots to ROM Monitor (Rommon) The syntax for this command is clear boot system all [module] The clear boot system flash Command The clear boot system flash command clears the flash boot image preference for the switch This causes the switch to use the first available CatOS image at boot If a boot image cannot be located, the switch boots to Rommon The syntax for this command is clear boot system flash [boot device (bootflash | slot0 | slot1)] [module]
