Creating Subtitles
Vertical Offset: Fine-tunes the vertical position of the text, by pixels, from the selected horizontal setting A value of 0 positions the text at its justification setting Positive values push the text down, and negative values pull it up from the default position Apply to Stream: Clicking this button will apply the formatting settings to all subtitle events in this stream
NOTE! Importing a subtitle file will delete any existing subtitle clips from the stream
Button Tab
The Button tab in the Subtitle Inspector (shown in Fig 12-13) is used to configure Buttons Over Video This Tab is inactive unless you have created one or more buttons within a Subtitle event Name: Buttons are named in the ascending numerical order of their creation, starting with Button 1 You should consider renaming buttons to more accurately reflect their function
Graphic
File: Displays the name of the graphics file used by this Subtitle Click the Choose: button to select a file, or enter the path and name for a graphics file Offset X and Y: Use to fine-tune the graphic s position Offset X fine-tunes the horizontal placement A value of 0 positions the graphic at its default position Positive values push the graphic to the right and negative values pull it to the left Offset Y fine-tunes the vertical placement A value of 0 positions the graphic at its default position, while positive values push the graphic down and negative values pull it up
Stream
Language: Selects the stream s language tag, which applies to all subtitle events in the stream You can also set this language tag from the stream language pop-up in the Track Editor Import Subtitles: Click this button to import a subtitle file This file may be a single file or graphics file in STL format
