In general, Playback Control disables certain transport-related functions, including searches and straight playback Title Play: Disables entering and jumping to a new title number by using the DVD player remote control PPT Search/PTT Play: Disables entering and jumping to or playing from a new chapter marker by using a remote control s numeric keypad PTT stands for part of title and means s Time Search/Time Play: Disables entering and jumping to or playing from a new time by using a remote control s numeric keypad Stop: Disables the stop function while a selected menu, track, marker, or story is playing Resume: Disables the resume playback function while a selected menu is displayed or while a track, marker, or story is playing Time/PTT Search: Disables entering a specific time in order to locate to a specific point in a video stream Still Off: Checking this UOP allows a still image to be paused Pause On/Off: Disables the pause/unpause function while a Track, Marker segment, or story is playing Also functions in Motion Menus

Forward Scan: Disables fast-forwarding through the element Backward Scan: Disables fast-rewinding through the element Next Program: Disables skipping to the next Previous Program: Disables skipping to the previous Go Up: Disables the Return button function on the remote control

A Display Condition may be attached to a Track, Story, or Menu, and can control whether or not that Element will be displayed, or if an alternate Element will be displayed instead, based on the Condition (See Fig 17-6) A Display Condition may be used, for example, to control which version of a Story is played, based on the value of a GPRM, or which version of a Track is played, based on the Parental Rating value Additionally, Stream selections may be made based on Language Preferences set in the DVD player s SPRMs

Menu Call:

Root Menu (DVD Menu): Disables the Remote Control Menu button to access a DVD menu that has been set in the Connections tab Title Menu: Prevents using the Title button on a remote control to access a DVD menu that you have previously set up in the Connections tab

Display Conditions are in many ways similar to the Conditional Commands created in DVD Studio Pro Scripting (see 13) This similarity exists in that both Conditional Commands and Display Conditions make navigation decisions based on the status of some specified element, or Parameter, as ascertained by testing it
