Once you have agreed, the Installer will present the Licensing Dialog, if it cannot find a valid License Key already installed (Fig E-9) Once successfully Licensed, the Installer will scan your system to find available hard disk volumes, then display them (Fig E-10) While all attached hard disk drives will be shown, only your Boot Volume is eligible for this Install (note the green arrow) The installer dialog will reflect the actual space required, which could be more than 20 GB, depending on the options you select next: Select the Installation Options you prefer the default is an Easy Install, but Custom installation is possible (Fig E-11) Figure E-9 Using the License Key info to Unlock the Installer
NOTE! You will find a valid License Key for DVD Studio Pro 4 in the Installation package provided; the numbers are usually affixed to the front of the Installing Your Software pamphlet The DVD Studio Pro 4 Installer DVD includes many installer packages which comprise the complete DVD Studio Pro 4 install You may not wish to install everything (for example, you may have no wish to install iDVD Theme Elements) You can deselect any undesired items in the Install Screen Figure E-10 Selecting a valid Volume for installation

To select from the available packages, click to select (check) the packages you would like installed each package will indicate the disk space it requires; a total is also shown (Figure E-11) (The installation shown in Fig E-11 was a re-installation, so it knew the media data was already still installed, hence the zero bytes messages) Once the packages have been selected, click the Install button to begin the installation or upgrade (If you already have an installation of DVD Studio Pro 4, the Install button will read Upgrade, as in Figure E-13 You will see a dialog asking you to authenticate (Figure E-14) Figure E-12 Your Installation will select from these packages

Selecting OK will begin the installation A series of Preparing screens will appear, as in Figure E- 15 Once each package has been prepared, the Installer will begin installing the prepared files it will take a few minutes, but the installer will display its estimate of the time required (Figure E-16) Figure E-16 Installing the software packages
Once the installation has finished, the Installer will tidy up after itself (Figure E-17) Upon completion, Success will be reported (Fig E-18) Once the installation cleanup has concluded, you will be able to launch DVD Studio Pro 4 and begin checking the configuration to be sure the Preferences are set to correspond with your needs DVD Studio Pro Install/Upgrade
Configuring DVD Studio Pro Software
Before you can begin using DVD Studio Pro effectively, you should specify your work environment s video and audio settings and your preferred settings for many things To Configure DVD Studio Pro preferences: Figure E-17 Finishing the installation

The default DVD Studio Pro 4 installation does NOT automatically install any Tutorial media You can copy the Recipe4DVD source content (NTSC) from the book DVD if you want some content to use for practice You may also wish to copy the Template Intro movies in your choice of video format: NTSC or PAL both are provided 2 From the DVD Studio Pro Menu, select Preferences (Fig E-20) DVD Studio Pro 4
To Install the Apple-supplied content for Templates and Transitions, you must run the Content Installer you may already have some of this installed, but DVD Studio Pro 4 includes new HD templates you will not have installed with DVD Studio Pro 3 (Figure E-21)
