By default, you are required to enter your password every time you sign a document This feature prevents other people from using your digital signature on a document when you temporarily vacate your workstation while using Acrobat You can, however, change password settings to prevent entering your password every time you digitally sign a document To change password settings, follow these steps: 1 Choose the digital ID whose settings you want to modify, as outlined previously 2 Choose Advanced | Manage Digital IDs | My Digital ID Files | My Digital ID File Settings to access the Digital ID File Settings dialog box shown previously 3 Click Password Settings to open the Password Settings dialog box 4 Choose the Require Password To Access When Signing This option is selected by default and requires a password every time you digitally sign a document You can deselect this option if you are a sole entrepreneur or you secure your computer when not at your workstation

After you or another author digitally sign a document, information concerning the signature appears in the Signatures tab You can select a signature in the tab and find out when the document was signed, who the author was, the validity of the signature, and the reason for signing the document You use the Signatures tab to manage the signatures in the document as well as perform other functions To open the Signatures tab shown in Figure 11-2, open the Navigation pane and click Signatures Alternatively, you can choose View | Navigation Tabs | Signatures The Signatures tab has an extensive Options menu with commands pertaining to digital signatures To open the Signatures Options menu, as shown in the following illustration, click the Options icon in the Signatures tab:

In the sections that follow, you ll learn how to use commands from this menu to sign signature fields, clear and delete signature fields, verify signatures, view different versions of the document, and more
View Digital Signatures
After you open the Signatures tab, you ll see a single listing for each signature in the document The listing notes the author s name, the verification status of the signature, and the date the signature was added to the document Verifying signatures is discussed in an upcoming section

Sign Signature Fields
When you create a document with a digital signature field, you can sign the field in one of two ways: one, click the field with the Hand tool within the document; or two, select the signature field in the Signatures tab and then choose Sign Signature Field from the Signatures tab Options menu After you choose to sign the field using one of these methods, follow the previously discussed steps to sign the signature field For more information on creating signature fields, refer to the upcoming Create a Blank Signature Field section
