Read QR Code JIS X 0510 In Java Using Barcode scanner for Java Control to read, scan read, scan image in Java applications. Microsoft Internet Information Server 40 Internet Information Server (IIS) 40 is a free Web server that is part of the Windows NT Server 40 installation Originally it was part of Microsoft's strategy to break into the Internet product marketplace, and because use of Windows NT and Windows 2000 is quite widespread, quite a few installations of IIS exist In fact, the many security breaks being carried out on IIS shows just how common the server is With the introduction of Windows 2000, Microsoft launched IIS version 50 with different licensing terms (specifically, it's not free, as 40 was) This section focuses on IIS 40 In addition to being free, IIS 40 is a simple product both in terms of installation (you basically do nothing to install it) and in terms of using it All this just helps in making it the default server for people who run Windows operating systems This is, of course, also the limitation of IIS it runs only on Windows platforms, whereas Apache Server and the IBM HTTP Server run on many platforms, including Windows and UNIX Another convenience in the IIS offering is that all the server's properties can be easily set using the Internet Service Manager tool, which is started from the Windows Start menu, as shown in Figure 6-2 Paint Bar Code In Java Using Barcode maker for Java Control to generate, create bar code image in Java applications. Recognizing Barcode In Java Using Barcode reader for Java Control to read, scan read, scan image in Java applications. Figure 6-2: Starting the Internet Service Manager The services that can be managed are shown along with their status in Figure 6-3 By default, these are the HTTP service (WWW), the FTP service, and the Gopher service Figure 6-3 shows a Windows NT server in which only the WWW service is available Each of the services has a set of properties windows that are used to configure the characteristics of the service Figures 6-4 through 6-7 show the windows you can use for configuring the WWW service Encoding QR Code 2d Barcode In Visual C# Using Barcode printer for .NET framework Control to generate, create QR Code 2d barcode image in .NET framework applications. QR Creator In .NET Framework Using Barcode printer for ASP.NET Control to generate, create QR Code JIS X 0510 image in ASP.NET applications. Figure 6-3: The Internet Service Manager The main properties are set in the Service tab in the WWW Service Properties window shown in Figure 6-4 You can set the port on which the service is listening (80 by default; other common values include 8080 for test servers), the default timeout, the maximum number of allowed concurrent connections, anonymous account profiles, and the authentication schemes supported by the server Generate Denso QR Bar Code In VS .NET Using Barcode generation for .NET framework Control to generate, create Quick Response Code image in .NET framework applications. Create QR Code In Visual Basic .NET Using Barcode printer for .NET framework Control to generate, create QR Code JIS X 0510 image in VS .NET applications. Figure 6-4: WWW Service Properties window Service tab In the Directories tab, you can specify the directories that participate in serving content for the site managed by the server Figure 6-5 shows the Directory Properties window, which can be accessed from the Directories tab by double-clicking an entry for which properties are to be modified UPC-A Printer In Java Using Barcode generator for Java Control to generate, create UPC-A image in Java applications. Draw Bar Code In Java Using Barcode generator for Java Control to generate, create barcode image in Java applications. Figure 6-5: WWW Service Properties window Directory Properties window In the Logging tab ( igure 6-6), you set properties that affect what gets logged and F where it gets logged to (including the option of logging information stored directly into an SQL/ODBC database) Linear Creation In Java Using Barcode printer for Java Control to generate, create Linear image in Java applications. Print USS-128 In Java Using Barcode generator for Java Control to generate, create UCC.EAN - 128 image in Java applications. Figure 6-6: WWW Service Properties window Logging tab The Advanced tab, shown in Figure 6-7, is used to set the access policy based on grant and deny directives Uniform Symbology Specification Code 93 Maker In Java Using Barcode generator for Java Control to generate, create Code 93 Extended image in Java applications. USS-128 Generator In Java Using Barcode maker for Android Control to generate, create USS-128 image in Android applications. Figure 6-7: WWW Service Properties window Advanced tab In addition to the main tool used for setting up the service properties, the Key Manager tool (Figure 6-8) allows you to add and manage keys that are attached to certificates You access this tool by choosing Start | Programs | Microsoft Internet Server (Common) | Key Manager These keys are used for setting up secure servers for electronic transactions and to ensure server authentication Print UPC A In VS .NET Using Barcode creator for .NET framework Control to generate, create UPC Symbol image in .NET applications. Bar Code Decoder In Java Using Barcode scanner for Java Control to read, scan read, scan image in Java applications. Figure 6-8: IIS Key Manager Finally, because the server setup should be enabled from a remote site, and not necessarily by opening the Service Manager on the local host, all tools are also available in an HTML-based version Barcode Drawer In None Using Barcode generator for Microsoft Word Control to generate, create barcode image in Microsoft Word applications. Code 39 Recognizer In Java Using Barcode scanner for Java Control to read, scan read, scan image in Java applications. Microsoft Internet Information Server 50 Following the footstep of IIS 40, IIS 50 offers tight integration into the host operating system, Windows 2000 Server administration is accomplished through the Administrative Tools folder on the Control Panel The Internet Service Manager provides the user interface for administering IIS The Internet Information Services window provides an Explorer-style interface that allows easy navigation through the various services and their components In Figure 69, the node representing the selected machine is thinkpad A node on the network can be running more than one service, as shown in the figure, where an FTP server, a Web server, and an SMTP server are installed You can browse files published under a server Code-39 Reader In Visual C#.NET Using Barcode reader for .NET framework Control to read, scan read, scan image in VS .NET applications. Reading UPC - 13 In Java Using Barcode recognizer for Java Control to read, scan read, scan image in Java applications. Figure 6-9: Internet Information Services Default Web Site view The Administrative Tools folder on the Control Panel also includes an item called Personal Web Manager ( igure 6-10) This tool facilitates easy management of the F content and settings of the IIS Web Server Figure 6-10: Personal Web Manager tool Similar to other Web servers, the easiest way to verify the IIS installation is to access it using a Web browser The IIS 50 home page is shown in Figure 6-11
