Trim Your Shots
As you remember, when you made the first shot, you gave yourself a little lead-in and lead-out at the beginning and end of the shot Let s trim those parts out, first the lead-in and then the lead-out: 1 Click and drag the rightmost (Out) marker along the progress bar to the point at which you want your video to begin See Figure 2-28 2 Choose Edit | Cut or press delete When you delete, the playhead triangle resumes its position at the zero point in the video You have successfully trimmed the opening of shot 1 3 Save the new player Name it something like BallonrampSequence Save it as a selfcontained movie 4 Trim the end of the clip Drag the Out marker all the way to the end of the video, at the right Make sure to drag the marker, not the playhead
FIGURE 2-28
Select the Out marker Note that the space between the markers is dark, which means it s selected
How to Do Everything with Online Video
5 Click and drag the In marker to the point at which you want the video to end 6 Press delete 7 Save the player We just trimmed our video footage Now that we understand how to trim the video, we ll want to do a variation on it before we bring in more video So let s start our trim on shot 2 and then bring it into our sequence This time, however, we re not going to delete anything We re just going to copy the selection from the footage and paste it into our sequence 1 Select the player depicting shot 2 2 Because of the nature of the QuickTime Pro Player, we have to choose our Out point first So click and drag the right Out marker to the point where you want the clip to end See Figure 2-29 3 Release the Out marker, and select the In marker on the left Drag it to your preferred In point See Figure 2-30 4 Copy your selection 5 Select BallonrampSequence player1 6 Drag the playhead to the end of the video 7 Paste the selection The result will be that your footage from shot 2 is at the end of this sequence Save your file
