Within Acrobat, you can check an existing document to make sure it s compliant with the PDF/X format by performing a preflight check When you perform a preflight check, you can choose the PDF/X version against which you want to test for compliance To perform a preflight check, follow these steps: 1 Open the PDF document you want to check 2 Choose Tools | Print Production | Preflight The Preflight dialog box appears and Acrobat begins loading profiles:
3 Select a Profile from the list and then click Execute The preflight tests are run and a report similar to the following appears, showing any problems that are preventing PDF/X compliance:

Convert an Existing PDF Document to PDF/X
After running a preflight check, if you find that the PDF document is not PDF/X compliant, you can attempt to convert it to PDF/X, using either the same PDF/X format against which you checked compliance or a different PDF/X format: 1 Choose Tools | Print Production | Preflight The Preflight dialog box appears and Acrobat loads profiles 2 Select the desired profile and click Execute Acrobat runs a preflight check and displays a report, as outlined previously 3 After reviewing the report, click the Profiles button The Profiles section of the Preflight dialog box appears 4 Click the Convert PDF To PDF/X button in the lower-left corner of the dialog box to display the Preflight: Convert To PDF/X dialog box:
