The short answer is: You don t! You use the branch function to create a copy, or branch, of the project in its current form You continue to work on the project the same as you did before, and your coworker starts to work on the newly created branch of the original project When you are ready to bring the two projects together, you use the merge function to combine the changes made in one project into the other The branch process creates a log of all the actions that have occurred in both projects and the merge process runs the log as a script to recreate the actions from the merge source When the merge process is complete, you have a single project that includes the changes made to both projects

Select Open and the Perform The Merge screen displays with every transaction that took place in the merge source, as shown next:
PART IV
There are a few options from which to choose on the Perform The Merge screen You can click the Run button, which applies all of the transactions selected in the Transaction list pane to the project to which you are merging You can click on the Step button to execute one transaction at a time for each button click You can clear the checkbox for a transaction if

you do not want to include it in your project If you clear a transaction checkbox, a Branch screen listing any other transactions that are dependent on the one you cleared displays, as shown next Finally, you can click the Close button to exit the Merge process without processing any transactions
NOTE When the merge process runs, any exceptions display as they occur with actions to address
them The actions available to you depend on the nature of the exception Refer to the IBM Cognos 8 BI documentation for more details
When you merge projects that have had the same namespace created in both, Business View, be sure to clear the checkboxes for those steps during the merge, as shown next If you do not, you end up with duplicate objects (namespace and namespace1) which results in additional work to correct:
16:
Framework Manager II
When the merge process is complete, you can either accept the results of the transactions or you can revert the project back to its original state, as shown next:
PART IV
Once you accept the changes, you will not be able to run that particular merge process again If you try, an information dialog displays, as shown next, with a message notifying you that there are no differences between the current project and the merge source:
