How to Do Everything with Microsoft Office Word 2007
Display Bookmarks in a Document
Once you ve inserted a bookmark in a document, it stays there until you delete it, either deliberately (as described in the next section) or accidentally Word normally keeps bookmarks hidden, which helps prevent them from cluttering up your documents visually but makes it easy to delete them accidentally For example, say you create a bookmark in the word Office When you select the word Office and type Branch over it, you delete the bookmark To avoid deleting bookmarks accidentally like this, or to avoid creating multiple bookmarks marking the same point in the document, you can make Word display bookmarks Follow these steps: 1 Click the Of ce Button, and then click Word Options Word displays the Word Options dialog box 2 In the left pane, click the Advanced category, and then scroll down to the Show Document Content area 3 Select the Show Bookmarks check box 4 Click the OK button Word closes the Word Options dialog box Word displays a thick I-beam for a bookmark that marks a single point in a document, as shown here
Word displays square brackets to indicate a bookmark that encloses text or another object, as in the two examples shown here
