You can add an image to a page draft you edit with Contribute at any time, and you can add images with any of the following extensions: jpg, jpeg, jpe, jfif gif, and png If you have images in other file formats that you want to add to pages you are editing, you will need to use an image-editing program such as Macromedia Fireworks to convert the image into one of these Web-friendly formats You can use one of the following methods to add an image to a Web page: Choose Insert | Image Click the Image button on the toolbar Drag an image from another application into the page draft you are editing Copy an image from another application, then paste it into the page you are editing

You can insert an image into a page draft you are editing from any folder on your computer When you publish the file, Contribute automatically uploads the file to

your Web server To add an image from your computer to a page draft using the Insert menu or the Image button, follow these steps:

2 Choose Insert | Image or click the Image button on the toolbar 3 Choose From My Computer from the pop-up menu to open the Select

Image dialog box shown in Figure 10-1 Choosing this option means that when you publish the page, Contribute automatically uploads the file to the Images directory at your Web site

image After you select the image, a thumbnail of the image is displayed in the preview window, as shown in Figure 10-1 Below the preview window, Contribute also displays the image size and the projected download time for a viewer with a 56 Kbps dial-up modem connection

When you insert an image from your computer into a Web page, you can modify the image properties within Contribute, but you will not be able to edit the image in an external image-editing program until you publish the page

When you insert a figure, Contribute displays a preview of the image, listing the file size and download time

When you insert an image from your computer by choosing Insert | Image or by clicking the Image button and the image is larger than what is allowed by your site administrator, the warning dialog box shown next appears

In addition to being able to insert images that are stored on your computer, you can also add images that are already stored in a folder at your Web server If you are editing multiple Web sites with Contribute, you can select an image from any Web page to which you have made a connection To add an image to a page draft from your Web site, follow these steps:

Website dialog box appears If you are editing more than one Web site with Contribute, a folder icon for each Web site appears The site s URL appears to the right of the folder If you have disabled a connection to a Web site, Contribute does not display the information for that Web site

4 Click the folder of the Web site that contains the image you want to insert,

you are editing After you insert an image from your Web site to a page draft, you can modify the image properties within Contribute, or you can edit the image in an imageediting program

You can also insert images by dragging them from another application into the page draft you are editing A word of caution is in order here When you insert images in this manner, Contribute does not detect the image s file size and will not prevent you from inserting an image that is larger than the limit specified by your site administrator In this regard, it is always advisable to insert files that are stored in a folder on your computer However, if you are sure the image file size is reasonable (no more than 50K), you can insert the image into a page draft by doing the following:
