created a custom business application called Inventory Manager (You learned how to perform both of these functions in 10) Here s a glimpse at how easy it is to do your own web development, even if you lack programming experience Follow these steps to set up a trigger point that tracks inventory levels for you and automatically places product orders when you reach a certain level This section describes an advanced-level process that you may not want to tackle unless you have some programming or web development experience You need to subscribe to the Essentials or Premium version of Office Live to use these features And, you also need Windows Workflow Foundation (part of NET Framework 30) installed

3 Open the inventory management business application you want to
automatically track Or, open the blank Inventory Manager application you created earlier in this chapter
4 First, to create a workflow, you need to add a SharePoint List to your
application Even though your Office Live business application already includes built-in lists, you need to add one from within the SharePoint Designer interface To add such a list, with your application open in the SharePoint window, click File, and then choose New
5 When the New dialog box opens, on the General Tab, double-click ASPX
A blank, untitled ASPX page opens
How to Do Everything with Microsoft Office Live
6 Click Insert, choose SharePoint Controls, and then choose Custom
List Form The List or Document Library Form dialog box shown in Figure 10-15 appears
7 The options you see in the List or Document Library Form dialog box
depend on the business application you are using If you have Asset Manager open, you see Assets and Asset Requests as the two options in the first drop-down list Choose the options you want, and then click OK The list is added to the SharePoint window Figure 10-16 shows an Asset list added to the current Office Live application, which is called Inventory Once you create a list, you see it listed in the SharePoint Lists section of the Data Source Library pane
Adding the Workflow
Once you have a SharePoint list open in the main content pane of the SharePoint Designer window, you can begin to create your workflow Follow these steps:
1 Choose New from the File menu, and then click SharePoint Content when
the New submenu appears The New dialog box opens
2 Click the SharePoint Content tab to bring it to the front 3 As shown in Figure 10-17, choose Workflow, then choose Blank Workflow,
and then click OK Workflow Designer opens This is the application that lets you create a workflow

4 In the box labeled Give a name to this workflow (see Figure 10-18), give a
name, such as Reorder Stock, to the workflow
5 Attach a workflow to a SharePoint list Choose Inventory from the What
SharePoint list should this workflow be attached to drop-down list
6 Check the box next to Automatically start this workflow whenever an item
is changed
7 Click Next The Workflow Designer Reorder Stock screen appears
In the next section, you assemble the workflow itself
FIGURE 10-18

CHAPTER 10:
Creating and Customizing Business Applications
Configuring the Workflow
The SharePoint application used to assemble workflows is called (not surprisingly) Workflow Designer You define the conditions for the workflow to occur, the actions to take, and the fields to be associated with the workflow
1 In the next Workflow Designer dialog box (see Figure 10-19), you define
the conditions under which this workflow will start and the action you want to have happen Click the Conditions button to define the conditions under which your inventory should be replenished In the drop-down list that appears, choose Compare Inventory Field When you choose this option, the following words appear next to conditions: if field equals value
FIGURE 10-19
In Workflow Designer, you set conditions for which your specified action occurs
How to Do Everything with Microsoft Office Live
2 For this example, assume you want the Units in Stock field to hit 6 for the
action to be triggered This means when you have six items in stock, an order is automatically replaced Click Field, and then click the name of the field you created in Inventory Manager For this example, the name of the field is Level Next to the Conditions button, you now see the following:
Level equals value
3 Click equals, and then choose is less than from the drop-down list 4 Click value, and then type 6 in the box that appears Now, press ENTER The
Conditions you specified are as follows:
Level is less than 6
5 Click Actions, and then choose Create list item in from the drop-down list
This causes a new list item to be created when units in stock drop below six
6 Click this list (see Figure 10-20) 7 When you click this list, the Create New List Item dialog box appears
Choose Order Requests (see Figure 10-21) This creates a new item in the Order Requests list
8 The Title (*) field appears because it is the only field in Order Requests
Highlight Title (*), and then click Modify to specify a value for this field The Value Assignment dialog box appears (see Figure 10-21)
9 Click the Define Workflow Lookup button This is the button with the
abstract-looking symbol (fx) Choose Inventory from the Source list, and choose Asset name from the Field list Then, choose Inventory: Asset Name from the Field drop-down list (see Figure 10-22) Click OK
