In this folder, you can collect the documents you are currently using for easy access When you first open PowerPoint, Documents is the default folder for opening and saving presentations Unlike the Recent folder, you have to purposefully save and place files in My Documents

C:\Documents and Settings\<profilename>\Favorites) folder You can use the Favorites folder to store shortcuts to presentations (or other files) you use often The files can be anywhere on your hard disk or network, but placing shortcuts all in one folder lets you find your files without having to navigate through drives and folders In the Add a Presentation to the Favorites Folder section, I explain how to place a shortcut in your Favorites folder This folder also includes shortcuts to web sites that you have added to your Favorites list in your web browser

you can organize web-related documents in folders you create The purpose of this folder is to store files that you plan to publish on the Web Of course, you may organize your presentations in other locations In that case, click the arrow to the right of the Look In drop-down list box, and navigate to your presentation Click the desired presentation, and choose Open (or double-click the presentation)

You have some hidden options for opening a presentation Two of them are especially useful if you are working on a networked computer To use the new Open options, click the drop-down arrow next to the Open button, shown in Figure 1-3 You have the following options:

If you often work from one folder, you may wish to make it the default folder for the Open and Save dialog boxes No longer will you have to navigate to your presentations and other files on your hard disk or network Whenever you want to open or save a presentation, your preferred folder will be active in the dialog box To set the default folder, choose Tools | Options, and click the Save tab, shown in Figure 1-4 In the Default File Location text box, type the path for the default folder you want For example, type c:\presentations As you can see in Figure 1-4, the user has changed the default to E:\powerpoint Click OK
