Editing Clipping Masks
To edit the contents of a clipping mask object (such as selecting and modifying the shape of the mask or masked objects paths with the Direct Selection tool and altering the paths strokes and fills), there are a few of ways to go about it: Select the clipping mask and choose Object | Clipping Mask | Edit Contents You can then toggle between the clipping path (the mask shape) and the contents of the mask (the masked shapes) by clicking the Edit Clipping Path and Edit Contents buttons on the Control panel Double-click the clipping mask object to enter the object in Isolation Mode While in Isolation Mode, you can select the different parts of the object on the artboard or through the Layers panel, and make your changes before exiting Isolation Mode (refer back to 7 for a refresher on Isolation Mode) Right-click (Win) or CMD+click (Mac) the masked object to access the context menu and choose Isolate Selected Clipping Mask To exit Isolation Mode, right-click (Win) or CMD+click (Mac) the masked object again and choose Exit Isolation Mode from the context menu
