TIP: By referring back to master data in 1, we see that each customer master record is created on the basis of a specific account group For example, sold-to parties use account group 0001 We also note the four basic partner functions: SP Sold-to party (German AG) SH Ship-to party (German WE) BP Bill-to party (German RE) PY Payer (German RG) Each partner function can be assigned a partner type This partner type specifies whether the partner is a customer, contact person, or vendor The overview screen, as shown in Figure 4-72, displays the available options when configuring the partner determination By selecting customer master and then selecting the Partner functions button, one can specify all the partner functions that are acceptable (see Figure 4-73) In this figure, one can see the sold-to party is partner type KU customer Although the incompletion procedure assigned to the SP partner function is 07, this incompletion procedure is used by the system to register partner fields that are not filled at the time of creating the sales order We will cover the higher-level function as well as the customer-hierarchy type a little later in customer hierarchies

The unique customer master indicator is set for the sold-to party; this indicates that the system must only enable one entry of this partner function in the customer master record From this view in Figure 4-73, should one select environment, Account group assignment one will be faced with an assignment table, as in Figure 4-74

TIP: Should one create a new customer account group, such as a copy of 0001, do not forget to assign the new account group to the list of allowed account groups for partner determination Before one can make any partner determination maintenance, one must ensure the partner functions that are to be used in the partner determination procedures, exist in the list of allowed partner functions Now one can proceed with the assignment of the partner functions to a partner determination procedure We will proceed with two examples: Example A: Creating partner determination for a customer master record 1 Select the radio button for the customer master 2 After ensuring all necessary partner functions have been maintained correctly, one can select

Figure 4-76 Assigned partner functions
4 Select the newly created procedure and select the Procedure details button You will be faced with a screen where you assign the associated partner functions that you permit and/or require to be placed in the customer master record For example, we select the basic four partner functions, SP, SH, BP, and PY, as well as the contact person CP and sales employee PE All four basic partner functions we want to make mandatory, but we only want the sold-to party to be unchangeable These settings are displayed in Figure 4-76 5 Once the procedure has been created and the partner functions have been assigned, it is necessary to assign this partner procedure to an account group, as displayed in Figure 4-77 This is carried out by selecting the Procedure assignment button One can now create the customer master records in this example using account group 0001 The result would be that the system allows one single entry for partner function SP while permitting multiple entries for partner functions SH, BP, PY, CP, and PE, as well as ensuring the partner functions SP, SH, BP, and PY are mandatory

Example B: Creating partner determination for a sales document header 1 Select the radio button for the sales document header After ensuring all necessary partner functions have been maintained correctly, hit the Partner procedures button 2 Create a new procedure key four characters in length with a short description such as ZOR 3 Select the newly created procedure and hit the Procedure details button You will be faced with a screen where you now assign the associated partner functions that you permit and/or require to be placed in the Sales document header In Figure 4-78, one can see that the assigned partner function sold-to party is not changeable and is a mandatory function, whereas the bill-to party, payer, and ship-to party are mandatory yet are changeable 4 Once the procedure has been created and the partner functions have been assigned, it is necessary to assign this partner procedure to a sales document type, as displayed in Figure 479 This is carried out by selecting the Procedure assignment button Should you now create a sales document that uses the assigned partner determination procedure, you would be restricted to only enter the partners The only available partners for selection are shown in Figure 4-80 The fields for source and sequence are used when the system needs to obtain a partner record from any associated partner in the sales document, other than that of the sold-to party If a partner is a buyer partner function BU and the record of the buyer is not assigned to the sold-to party, but to the bill-to party, the source field may be assigned BP for the bill-to party and the sequence number must come after that of the bill-to party Thus, should the bill-to party have a sequence of blank or 0, the sequence for the buyer may read 1
