In the creation of sales orders or sales documents, you can block the document type from being processed or used by a specific customer This block on the customer master record can be set for all sales areas or for just specific sales areas This is specifically useful when wishing to block blacklisted customers or customers with a poor credit history

Here you assign to the sales document types [OVAL] to the sold-to party master record [VD05] now that you have created the sales document blocks and assigned them to the relevant sales document types Proceed in assigning the sales document blocks to the specific customer master records, as displayed in Figure 2-113 Go to Logistics, Sales and distribution, Master data, Business partner, Sold-to party, Block/unblock I have not been able to create these blocks using the IMG, as the table TVAST has no maintenance object in SAP version 40b Should this be the case in the system you are using, you may enter the values manually by proceeding as follows Use the transaction code [SM31], as displayed in Figure 2-114, and select Maintain, as seen in Figure 2-115 Now create your entries Return back to the assignments in the IMG and assign the relevant document types Then proceed with the assignment of the document block to the customer master records

Bills of Materials (BOMs)
The Bills of Materials (BOM) process can be complex and dependent on Sales and Distribution as well as other modules such as Materials Management or Production Planning I have explained the Sales and Distribution parts that contribute to the BOM process and that a BOM is a collection of materials that make up a product A computer, as shown in Figure 2-116, could be called a BOM The header item or main item, the computer, could be constituted of many subcomponents or subitems: a hard drive, a keyboard, and a monitor It is these subitems of the BOM along with the header item that make up the BOM When the customer places his order, he orders the header of the BOM only and the subitems are automatically included in the sales order Due to the BOM having header and item levels, the system does not process pricing, inventory control, and delivery processing at both levels This would be futile; for example, there is no need to price at the header level for the entire computer and then again at the item level for all the subitems Thus, BOM processing is divided into two different ways of being processed, namely, at the main item level if the material is assembled or at the component level if the material is not assembled
Main Item Level Processing
The material master records should have the item category group ERLA in the Sales 2 screen of the finished product In this case, the associated subitems
Figure 2-116 A computer can be an example of a BOM Copyright by SAP AG
< xml version="10" encoding="UTF-8" > Page 147 function only as text items, and thus are not relevant for delivery This process ensures that pricing, inventory control, and delivery processing is carried out at the header level that is for the finished product only (see Figure 2-117)
Subitem-Level Processing
If you would prefer to have the subitems be responsible for pricing, inventory control, and delivery processing, enter the item category LUMF on the material master record in the Sales 2 screen This ensures the subcomponents are relevant for processing To ensure all the components can be delivered at the same time, use the functionality of the delivery group The Delivery Group The subitems of a BOM may be available at different times due to the lead times in procurement (MM) and production (PP) You can use the delivery group to indicate that all the subitems must be delivered together This means that the subitems must be delivered as a group You indicate on the item category whether a delivery group applies Should the subitems be relevant for delivery at different times, the system will automatically deliver these partial deliveries whenever they are available and the delivery due list is run This could be disastrous, however If the customer has ordered a computer and we deliver a keyboard to him one day followed by a monitor the next, he will not be too happy Thus, if a delivery group is assigned to the item category of the subitems, the system will determine the latest schedule line of the items and confirm the delivery date according to that last schedule line For a delivery group to perform correctly, the following prerequisites must be met:
