Create New Swatches
The Swatches panel displays a variety of swatch types, including CMYK, RGB, Lab colors, gradients, tints, and spot/process/ mixed ink colors (Read about working with spot and process colors and mixed inks in 15) To add a new color swatch, follow these steps: 1 Select New Color Swatch from the Swatches panel s menu to open the dialog box Or, you can press ALT-CTRL (Windows) or OPTION-COMMAND (Mac OS) and click the New Swatch button on the Swatches panel 2 Specify a name for the color For process color, you can leave the default selected, which shows the color values as the color name, or deselect the Name with Color Value check box and type a name in the Swatch Name field, such as aqua in the example shown here If you choose a spot color from the Color Type dropdown list, type a name in the Swatch Name field 3 Click the Color Mode drop-down arrow, and choose an option, including Lab, CMYK, or RGB color You ll also see dozens of color system choices for spot colors Read more about using color libraries in 15 4 To set the color, drag the sliders to modify the values or type numbers in the text boxes If you re using the color value as the swatch s name, you ll see the Swatch Name field change as you modify the values
