The page at the top of the site map is the map s root, which is, by default, the home page of your site The solid arrows represent existing links from the root page to other pages in your site These are the branches of the site map Pages with red labels indicate broken links either the link to this page gives the incorrect path, or this page doesn t exist View the links of a secondary page in the map by clicking the plus button to the left of the page s icon The links appear in list form, and the plus button becomes

a minus button, as shown in Figure 13-14 Collapse the list of links by clicking the minus button To link to an existing page in your site from any page in the site map, select the page s icon in the site map and choose Site | Link To Existing File You can also right-click the page s icon and choose Link To Existing File from the context menu The Select HTML file dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 13-15 Navigate to the page to which you want to link and click OK Dreamweaver adds a text hyperlink to the bottom of the page that you selected in the site map and includes the newly linked page in the site map s layout If you want to change the format, content, or appearance of the text hyperlink that Dreamweaver added, double-click the page to open it in a document window and look for the link at the bottom of the page Here s another way to link to existing pages Select a page in the site map and notice that a round target icon appears beside the page, as shown in Figure 13-16 Drag this target to any page in the site map or file list and release the mouse button to create the link To create a new page and add a link to it, select a page in the site map and choose Site | Link To New File or right-click the page and choose Link To New File from the context menu The Link To New File dialog box opens, as shown here:
