But to see your pictures in a different order each time you play the slideshow, you can choose to view your images in random order This is done from the Settings window, as shown in Figure 15-16 To display your pictures in random order, follow these steps: 1 On the Media Center main screen, under Tasks, click Settings The Settings window opens
2 Click Pictures This displays the options for displaying pictures and slideshow settings Choose whether pictures display during a slideshow in normal or random order

3 Select the Show Pictures In Random Order check box This causes the picture to be displayed randomly 4 Click Save This saves your changes and returns you to the Settings window 5 Click the Windows button in the upper-left corner to return to the Media Center main screen At any point during a slideshow, you can right-click the window to display a shortcut menu From the shortcut menu, choose Settings to access the main Settings window
Show Song Information
If music is playing in the background while the slideshow is running, you can choose when (if ever) you see the song information As you can see in Figure 15-17, when the song information is displayed, it appears in the lower-left corner of the slideshow window

There are three options for when song information is displayed:
At The Beginning And End Of Song The song information caption displays only at
the beginning and end of each song
Always The song information caption is always visible on the slideshow screen Never The song information caption is never visible on the slideshow screen
To change when song information displays, follow these steps: 1 On the Media Center main screen, under Tasks, click Settings The Settings window opens 2 Click Pictures This reveals the options for displaying pictures and slideshow settings 3 Choose when song information displays during a slideshow, as shown in the following illustration
4 Choose At The Beginning And End Of Song, Always or Never 5 Click Save This saves your changes and returns you to the Settings window
Select Transition Type and Time
Two settings related to how the pictures are displayed in the slideshow are transition type and transition time The effect you see when one picture leaves the slideshow and another appears is the transition; while the length of time between transitions is known as the transition time There are three options for transition settings:
Animated Cross Fade None
To change the picture transition type or time, follow these steps: 1 On the Media Center main screen, under Tasks, click Settings The Settings window opens 2 Click Pictures This reveals the options for displaying pictures and slideshow settings 3 Choose the transition type Animated, Cross Fade, or None as shown in the following illustration If you don t see the Transition Type area, use the arrows in the lower-right corner of your screen to scroll up or down as needed 4 Click Save This saves your changes and returns you to the Settings window
