E-mail Your Pictures
One way to share your pictures with others is through e-mail Unfortunately, you can t e-mail directly from Media Center, but you can use several other methods:
Using your e-mail program, you can include any image on your computer as an
attachment to a new message
From a file window (such as Computer or Pictures), you can right-click an image and
choose Send To: Mail Recipient from the shortcut menu
Use Windows Photo Gallery
From an open e-mail message, you can use the drag-and-drop method to attach an image by simply dragging an image thumbnail to the open e-mail However, using this method removes the option of choosing the picture size
Use Windows Photo Gallery to E-mail a Picture
Windows Photo Gallery is often used in conjunction with Windows Media Center as a means of working with your photos One of the options offered by Windows Photo Gallery is the ability to email your photos directly from within the Photo Gallery program To use the Photo Gallery to email a picture, follow these steps: 1 Open Windows Photo Gallery 2 Navigate to the picture you want to e-mail If you prefer, you can select several images to e-mail by holding down ctrl while you click each one 3 Click E-mail on the menu bar This opens the Attach Files dialog box
4 Click Attach A new e-mail message opens using your preferred e-mail program with the image(s) attached 5 Using your e-mail program s speci c commands, address and send the e-mail

E-mail Limitations
Although you may be tempted to send an image at the largest size possible (1280 1024), doing so often increases the size of the file significantly While it may seem like a good idea at first, you should know that some e-mail servers limit the individual message size There isn t one message size standard, but it typically falls between 1 and 10 megabytes (MB) Plus, smaller file sizes have a faster download rate
Optimizing your images by choosing a smaller image size, such as 800 600, reduces the overall file size of the image and thus the file size of the e-mail Optimizing your images in this way does not affect the quality of the original image on your computer, but it does resize the image that you send When sending pictures via e-mail, a safe photo size is Smaller: 640 480 This reduces the file size of the attachment, allowing the e-mail and associated attachment to download faster on the recipient s computer From Windows Photo Gallery, you can e-mail selected videos by clicking the same e-mail command; however, you can t resize a video Since video files are often quite large, you should always try to e-mail videos only to users with a high-speed Internet connection
