Warn Me If Authentication Fails Select this option button to have Remote Desktop Connection warn about authentication problems and allow the user to decide whether to go ahead with the connection This is usually the most practical setting Do Not Connect If Authentication Fails Select this option button to have Remote Desktop Connection refuse any connection that fails authentication This is the safest setting 26 Click the Close button (the red button on the title bar) to close the Preferences window 27 Press -S or choose File | Save to save the changes you ve made to the connection The connection is now ready for use
Connecting Using a Saved Connection
If you ve just created a connection as described in the previous section, all you need do to connect to the Windows PC is click the Connect button Otherwise, open the connection in one of these ways: Choose File | Open A Recent Connection, and then click the connection on the submenu Remote Desktop Connection automatically starts connecting for you Choose File | Open A Saved Connection (or press -O), click the connection in the Open RDC dialog box, and click the Open button Then click the Connect button in the Remote Desktop Connection window If you chose not to store your username or password (or both) in the connection, Remote Desktop Connection prompts you to provide them (see Figure 10-10)
