IMPORT PICTURES FROM THE CAMERA OR MEMORY CARD
To import the pictures:

In the Event Name text box, type the name for the set of photos you will import In the Description text box, type a description for the photos to help you identify them later You can adjust the description for individual photos later Select the Autosplit Events After Importing check box if you want iPhoto to break the photos into different albums by the date and time they were taken Select the Hide Photos Already Imported check box if you want iPhoto to hide photos you ve already imported so that you don t try to import them again If you want to import all the pictures, click the Import All button If you want to import only one picture, click it to select it, and then click the Import Selected button To import a range of pictures, select them using one of the methods described next, and then click the Import Selected button:

add an individual picture to the current selection or to remove a picture from the selection

iPhoto will import the pictures, showing you a preview of the current photo and a readout of its progress If any of the pictures are duplicates of pictures you ve imported before (for example, because you left them on your camera after importing them), iPhoto displays the Duplicate Photo dialog box (see Figure 6-4) Select the Apply To All Duplicates check box if you want your decision to apply to all duplicate pictures rather than just the one currently displayed, and then click Import or Don t Import After importing all your pictures, iPhoto prompts you to delete them Click the Delete Originals button or the Keep Originals button as appropriate
