Connecting to a Client Mac via Screen Sharing
To connect to a client Mac via Screen Sharing, follow these steps: 1 Open a Finder window For example, click the Finder button in the Dock, click the desktop and press -N, or use the mouse to lasso an already open window that s cantering aimlessly around your desktop 2 In the sidebar, double-click the Shared category to expand it if it s currently collapsed The list of accessible computers on your network appears 3 Click the Mac to which you want to connect 4 Click the Share Screen button In the Finder s column view, the Share Screen button appears handily in the second column In any of the three other views, it appears in the gray bar below the Search box 5 The Screen Sharing application springs into life, pokes the remote Mac, and then prompts you for your user name and password for that Mac (see Figure 12-9) 6 In the Connect area, select the As A Registered User option button NOTE To connect by asking for permission, select the By Asking For Permission option button, and then click the Connect button The user sees a Control Request dialog box If they click the Share Screen button, you re in; if they click the Cancel button, you get an Authentication Failed message This seems ambiguous, but the small print spells it out by telling you that the user declined your request 7 Type your user name for the remote Mac in the Name text box and your password in the Password text box 8 Select the Remember This Password In My Keychain check box if you want Mac OS X to store the password for future use
